garage has been so co-opted by the UK though, and early on. i'd scarcely call 'one dude making shifty sounding house' the origins of garage

well, yeah, but it's hardly many americans fault as there isn't really much (good) club culture here unless you live in la/san fan, miami, detroit, or nyc. this matters because a lot of dance music is made to function in clubs - think dubstep (the real sort) or harder/dj tool style techno - as it benefits not only from a better system but also in taking place in a social or communal setting.

honestly, had we embraced techno/house and it's producers back in the 80s instead of shunning it (cause racism) then we'd be much better off wrt club culture imo.

yeah, i was speaking about a certain aspect because it's generally club/dance music that americans are really clueless about. pop, hip-hop, and even industrial have a much bigger base.

great chart

I disagree with stars of the lid though
I know they use a lot of guitar pedals but I was under the assumption that album was recorded mainly with traditional instruments

probably wrong though

Americans think electronic is a genre.

Americans think this genres is just house, techno, drum and bass or IDM.
>>
>>66215507
Wow I almost fell for the b8 up to Autechre
>>
why do yall have such a complex about why americans don't like electronic music as much as you? The people who have been into rap for the last 30 years here are probably the same people that have been into electronic music over there. you have idm, we have experimental hip hop. you have grime, we have gangster rap. Do i care if you know the difference between bounce, trap, miami bass, crunk, hyphy, boom bap and g funk? Not really...
