definitely not average among today's pop scene. It throws out most conventions that permeate every single and swaps it for an informed mix of old and new pop romanticism.
Production and chord progressions are very polished and non-obvious too, I don't know how you'd miss that.

If you read pop in the most literal sense (and don't count singer songerwriters), I'd say EMOTION has an argument for it. I'd probably go with the 20/20 experience though.
