No, they've consistently combined synthpop, death metal, thrash metal and alternative rock for 20 years without delving into other subgenres. Sporkcore bands are just groups that pull random styles out of a hat and randomly hop between 10 and more different styles in just a few minutes while never being rooted in a sound.
CoTD isn't sporkcore, lad. They've never been random or genre-hopping, they've just came up with a unique style and stuck with that exact style for 20 years. If they're sporkcore you might as well say that other bands with a style exclusive to them are sporkcore.

Not really. The first wave of post-rock was very diverse and most of the pioneering bands sounded absolutely nothing like eachother at all. The sound is clustered and varied. You had alt rock groups being called post-rock, you had metal groups being called post-rock, you had prog rock groups being called post-rock.
Post-rock doesn't really have any defining features, save for the current wave because the majority of newer bands copied an older band. There's still post-rock bands that sound nothing like the current wave around today, however.
With metal however it still has defining features, and that is the loud distorted guitar and repeated guitar riffs (yes, even atmoshit has riffs). That makes metal a genre because it's defined by specific characteristics.
