Future funk is literally cutting 3 seconds from a funk song, adding a side chain and speeding it up a bit.

I still listen to it and keep up with new stuff, but I feel like a lot of people have straight abandoned it for Future Funk, PC Music, Hyperpop, or some of the other derivatives. Which is understandable, most of what can be done with the sound has been done and what's left are either producers late to the party/who won't leave or artists trying to squeeze the lemon for those last few drops of juice or eve -GASP- evolve the genre.

This guy is pretty good, he's doing a lot of new interesting stuff.
