Literally the most pretentious album ever made, and it's great. Although I wouldn't give it more than a 6.5/10 because of how lazy it is. The main issue with the album is that it costs money. If it was available for free on bandcamp I wouldn't have a problem with it.

Personally I have it so high because of the way it takes something old and innocuous and lends it that strange emptiness and mournful tone, like someone reflecting back on days gone by. Plus I bought into the whole alzheimers theme and my first time listening to the album happened to be when I was visiting my nan for the first time after she was diagnosed with the disease.

I'll give you a serious reply then, because I don't actually have anything against Alvin Row and was just replying to what that guy said.
The 'style' the album is in is a huge crutch for the songwriting. If the instruments weren't produced so uniquely and it was just a basic guitar, piano, and drumset, the album would've been ignored completely. The actual music behind it, when examined without the effects, is extremely boring, much like their earlier Paddington Band stuff.
Along with that, as good as the production is considering what they had to work with, there are still noticeable issues with it, with awkward microphone hiss cutting out at weird times, etc.
But it's still a great album, and I wish they kept the style into their later days of better songwriting.
