Most "right wing" people are more into instant results or long-term guaranteed payoffs. To people with that mindset, art is just a stupid pursuit in general. In the time it takes to organize gigs, learn your instrument, write songs, practice, etc. (which is all done for free on your own time, and most gigs have you pay for the timeslot nowadays), you could be working or investing or looking for new opportunities or making contacts.
