i actually have a lot of trouble listening to music high. i hate almost everything, or it freaks me out.
the musicians need to be very technically proficient at their instruments, but the music can't be too complicated.
the lyrics shouldnt be too obvious or cliche, but also not so obscure that they sound dumb.
if its high energy, it shoudnt be too aggressive, but also most rock sounds boring and tame.
if its low energy, it shoudnt be too depressing or too slow or sparse.
im picky as fuck high
ive found that System of a Down is usually a good choice for me, as well as The Mars Volta, Sophie Hutchings (slower piano based jams), and... thats all i can think of right now.
