2nd to 3rd Talking Heads album
Young Americans to Station to Station
A lot of albums made by or made with Brian Eno.
This one threw me for a loop the first time. Don't even remember which tracks.
Electioneering - Climbing up the walls
also:
The National Anthem - How to disappear completely

ending of Climbing Up The Walls + beginning of No Surprises

Big Man With a Gun - A Warm Place
Into the Pandemonium - Cold Lake
>>66050423
ItP has more jarring shifts than anything else itt thus far.
Wall of Voodoo cover -> Christian Death inspired goth metal -> Baudelaire over string quartet outta NOWHERE
To say nothing of the "industrial" track.
Graduation -> 808s and Heartbreak
>>66050376
That shift is pretty cool
That album is pretty cool
cool
>>66050469
Yeah I forgot about the 'on an album' qualifier, so I should have just put ItP by itself.
>>66050112
I don't see how queen is dead is a dramatic shift. Queen is dead sets the tone already
Anyway I'd say dean blunt black metal is nothing but dramatic tonal shifts each song
>>66050513
>>66050209
idiot
Not extremely dramatic but the first one that came to mind:
Waves->FML
Cry Baby Cry - Revolution 9
Song to the Siren on Starsailor has always sounded really strange and discomforting, even though the songs surrounding it are arguably less conventional. I think the way it's sung was meant to contrast the more plaintive, restrained original.

>the smiths
>ever giving a happy impression
Maybe Cemetary gates if you look at it that way
A Quick One Before The Eternal Worm Devours Connecticut - > Bloodhail
I was expecting more like Quick One and it put me off from liking the album for a while.
>>66050628
I feel like I Love Kanye - Waves also qualifies
>hehehe
>TURN ME UP
>>66050634
more like revolution 9- good night
what a perfect way to close an album
>>66050674
WORKIN' THIS GRAVESHIFT
Dance Dance Dance -> Please Let Me Wonder
Kooks -> Quicksand
literally any transition in Since I Left You
>>66051192
How? They're all the same upbeat mood
>>66051208
Is it just me who thinks the title track is depressing as fuck then? It sounds upbeat but with a thick underlying sadness
Come in Alone - Sometimes
>>66050270
Probably going from Mysteries of Love to Into the Night
>>66051494
Nah, that's To Here Knows When -> When You Sleep
The Purple Bottle -> Bees, Bashee Beat, Daffy Duck, Loch Raven
>>66051208
>pic related
>>66051432
I get what you're saying
I only feel that once in a while.
I guess when I listen to it, it feels like I'm being taken to a greener pasture in comparison to my life at the time (sometimes).
'Bring the sun' by Swans from To be kind
it still gets me no matter what
>>66050823
I worship Today!'s B-side, minus Bull Sessions with the Big Daddy which I just realized totally sounds like a cuck thing.
A New Career In A New Town - > Warszawa
Deep Water -> Machine Gun
I love the juxtaposition between the two tracks - they're almost opposites in terms of tone, structure, and mood but yet they still mesh together well.
>>66052213
this!
I havent listened to Portishead in months. Just inspired my weekend muzak.
Modulation from A major to A minor towards the end of Tchaikovsky's Piano Trio for most dramatic.
D major to D minor between first two movements of Schumann's 4th Symphony for my favorite. I especially love it when conductors don't put a pause in between them.
Between the third and fourth movements of Tchaikovsky's Sixth Symphony is great as well.

I think V-2 Schnider - Sense Of Doubt is a bigger difference t b h
>>66052535
>>66050823
I've been listening to Pet Sounds a lot lately, but I'm not sure where else to go with The Beach Boys. What should I do?
>>66052598
Smile Sessions or Surf's Up
>>66052598
Surf's Up
>>66050421
What the fuck happened to Offspring in the late 90's?
>>66052598
Smile, then listen to literally everything they released from '62 to '77. No particular order
>>66052598
I say, listen to Today! for their best pre-Pet Sounds album, then Sunflower and Surf's up. Smile Sessions if you wanna hear where Brian was heading with his sound, and Love You, if you want something along the lines of Pet Sounds meets proto synthpop.
My personal fave after Pet Sounds and Smile is Friends but I'm not sure you'd like it. It's pretty subtle but so sweet to chill to at night and light up a smokey or two.
How hasn't this been posted?
The Colour of Spring -> Spirit of Eden
This album started off pretty peppy like their older work but it got so depressing towards the end.
A bit of a memey band but I thought the album was good.
