Does this guy actually have fans? He is the kind of obnoxious prick who will dominate an entire conversation by jerking off to a bands influences instead of actually listening to the fucking album. Yes, originality is obviously an important factor but if anything someone writes sounds remotely like something that came out anytime from the 1960s to now he will immediately disregard it as derivative. This man gave Bowie's Young Americans a fucking 4/10 and said this about Station To Station:

See what I mean? The man gives zero shits about actual songwriting or emotion put into music, but will just dissect it. "Oh, this synth sounds vaguely like a synth pink Floyd used in one song ten years ago? 6/10." I've never had the displeasure of meeting a Scaruffi drone but if they are nearly as pretentious as the man they idolize then it'd be a wonder if they could even hear any music at all that far up their own asses. To any Scaruffi fans reading this: have fun jerking off to the same Beefheart, Velvet Underground, Faust, and Slint LPs over and over again because nothing released some 2000 has been good enough to listen to apparently.
Also how does it make sense that a man who is apparently a genius scientist has a website that looks like it was designed in 2002 and never updated? Give me a break. Fuck Scaruffi and fuck anyone who gives two shits about his opinion.

scaruffi has a better understanding of what rock music is and can accomplish than anybody else alive and provides an extremely valuable perspective in his assessments. i'm sorry you're too dumb and butthurt to see this.
scaruffi is one of the few music critics that can actually back up their arguments and have really, really good taste in music.
