In the mood for a very specific sound. I'm looking for that 90s alternative sound that's a bit jangly, a bit melancholy, gold tinged, breezy, wistful, guarded, but still a bit sentimental.

Pavement on CRCR is the obvious comparison, but you can only listen to the Pavement discography so many times.

I can't listen to the Gin Blossoms without being reminded of how they literally drove their main songwriter to kill himself.

Regardless, the vocal harmonies on these songs are god-tier.

Guided By Voices came to mind first. You've probably listened to them before though. Maybe try listening to one of their more obscure releases? Pic related is a great compilation of stuff that didn't make it onto their most acclaimed albums. There's also a different "directors cut" version of Bee Thousand too.
