That's not bad if it's a decent amp and you don't need to put a lot of work into the guitar.

To answer your question about authenticity from the last thread (>>65884417);
So long as the serial number isn't lower than 93 (as in MN93#####), it's probably legit. It's not as if MIM Fenders are particularly rare or expensive.
>>
I'd like a new Jazz box, I want a 24.75" scale

maybe and Ibanez Art Core?

what a better buy for a first guitar, not worried about price, squier affinity strat or pacifica pac012? thinking about learning to play and just want a solid beginners guitar to practice with. if both of these are dogshit, I wouldn't know so feel free to recommend a different one. thanks
>>
>>65884687
Looks like it has a roland pickup, I wonder if it's routed for a 13 pin connector....

Looks legit, could be a good deal if you're into synth guitar at all.
>>
So I'm using two overdrive pedals and a disortion pedal to get the tone I want on my spider4 15w. A fulltone gt-500, a tube screamer, and an mxr fullbore. The thing is that I get a furious loud screech when I'm not strumming anything. That happened before I fot my fullbore mxr. Someone told me there was a pedal that would help with this, compressor or something? What should I keep in mind in terms of this after I get a new amp like a peavey or a tube screamer?
>>

any you think I could expect to find around $45-$60 used? I don't want to get a lower cost behringer because I had a phaser by them and it was overall just not good, added unwanted fuzz distortion and whatnot.
>>
>>65884916
Go for a Squier Standard Stratocaster or an older Fender MIM (Made In Mexico) Stratocaster.
Anything below that, like the Affinity, "Strat" or Bullet are cheap garbage and aren't worth the money.

Both are a little past your price range. You can get the Eastman Ar371 for around$ 650 second hand if you're patient, which is what I would get.

Otherwise the AFJ95 ibanez is nice too. Washburn has some cool L5 copies but those are 25.5" I think.

I feel that Seymour Duncan has better actives nowadays, lots of players have made the switch to SDs, passives or Laces.

You are going to to want to look into a noise suppressor or noise gate. The mxr fullbore pedal should have a noise gate built in.

If you can score a baby taylor for around $300, that's a solid crisp acoustic that will hold you over beginning to end. My father gave me his big baby taylor he never played when I started learning seven years ago and the sound I hear from it encouraged me to play more, out of my five guitars, she's the one who makes me want to sniff my hands when I'm done playing her.

NOW if you think $300 is a bit much, I can recommend the washburn rover for around $150ish, she's small, warm, and comes with the perfect compact case for bringing her around and not worrying about something smashing it or anything, she might be small but she's a good guitar overall and has a large sound.

If you want to be 14 again then there's any ibanez starter electric, their starters compare far better than gibson or fenders electric starters. Them not being acoustic or hollow bodies means you can take it with you and practice anywhere without it being so loud for the local inbred oogles to give a damn and spit on you . A $15 honeytone pocket amp is great for on the go and plugging headphones into with these.
>>
>>65887004

hey there, because my house has no grounding, it makes any amp unplayable due to noise. i have to use battery powered amps instead.
can you reccommend me a decent acoustic guitar amp with rechargable batteries?
i'm currently considering the Yamaha THR5AH, even though it uses 8 AA batteries, which sounds like a pain in the ass to replace, but whatever.
>>
>>65887661
Why don't you buy a converter plug with a ground?
>>
>>65885049
you're just adding more pedals to get a sound that should come from an amp.

you're going to be using FOUR pedals to get a basic driven amp sound because your amp is so bad.

sell all that shit and buy an amp that sounds better.
>>
>>65887689
the ground in the converter plug needs to be connected to the ground that my house doesn't have.

What material/putty should I use to repair this chip on the right headstock horn? Any tips? It's a minor cosmetic damage but it's been bothering me so much lately.

Thanks in advance.

Well, there's wood fill/putty, which I guess you could use, just paint black. But it's gonna look like shit. Or you could buy the plate over the headstock, replace it, and the missing bit just fill it with putty/fill, but it's gonna be more work and dunno if you want to go at it.

There was a really nice ornamental pre-war parlor guitar made in Germany for sale at the local flea market for 18 euros, all it would've needed was new set of strings, bridge pins and maybe a new, lowered bridge because I don't play slide so it would just fuck my fingers up.
I didn't have enough money at the time but when I returned with enough monies it was gone.

Thoughts on the Neunaber Expanse series? Essentially a stompbox that can house 1 of the 4 Expanse series effects at a time (loadable via USB). I believe the 4 effects are reverb, shimverb, echo and chorus. A bit more expensive then a used Pod, and obviously less versatile, but I have to believe the sound quality would be of much higher quality and the pedals have analog dry through. The Wet Reverb is obviously very well regarded.

Loading the stompboxes via USB seems highly inconvenient but I can't get these out of my head recently

Currently most are in the cases, but guitars in cases don't get played. I'm in the process of hanging them, but the room I've chosen (away from windows and doors) has some crazy-ass stud pattern I can't figure out. Once I do, though, they're getting hung. Playable art.
>>
>>65887398
what compelled you to type this, do you say out loud everything you dislike?
>>
>>65894479
It's actually an ottoman, but if it isn't being used it's the guitar's designated napping area
>>
>>65894705
There's basically no point to having them since they exist to reduce friction between the nut and the tuners. When you have a locking nut, anything past the nut basically doesn't matter.

Time for another fret leveling adventure, a.k.a. /diy/ propaganda.

In this step, I've already adjusted the neck to be level. I'm now marking the tops of the frets with permanent marker. The template is made of card stock and masking tape.
>>
After some leveling, we can see that there's marker on some parts of some frets, and it's been removed on other parts. We need to keep going until there's a silver line across every fret. Some frets will get filed much more than others. But they will stay level thanks to the machined surface of the carpenter's level.
>>
>>65893061
i can post so many better artists. if you had said "guitarists" it would be a much much shorter list
>>
I've taken the frets down pretty far now, to get them down to the level of this dent, which you can see as the black mark on the one fret. The more you bring the frets down, the harder crowning will be.
>>
hey guys, I'm trying to get into metal and learn how to play metal.

I just finished Metalocalypse and am now trying to learn Bloodrocuted, I also really like Ghost and Galaktikon.

any suggestions on where I should start, both listening and playing?

thanks. :)
>>
>>65894990
Lmfao. I was taking a piss at work. I was going to elaborate, but i didn't. So your reply was funny because i should have. I've always liked RAtM, he makes some unique shit go on with the guitar. I meant it in the sense he tries to be all political and hang out with bruce springsteen and they act all like they're some kind of progressive geniuses. Well, maybe in the 90s RAtM stood for the good side, but now 20 years later, the side they stood for has gone fucking batshit insane. And if he still thinks it's the side to be on, he sucks. They're re-uniting to make an anti-trump album. Ok, whatever. But they gotta realize clinton stands for everything they were against in the 90s. If they don't, they're stupid as fuck. Rage against the machine. THE MACHINE. All of it. Not rage against one guy. Also fucking bruce springsteen? I could play guitar better with my ass when was in 4th grade.

Sorry, didn't mean to go all /pol/ock.
>>
I've finished leveling the frets. If I was rickenbacker, I'd call it a day. Luckily, I'm not, so let's move on to crowning.

As you can see, quite a lot of material was removed. More was removed from the ends than the middle, meaning I didn't do a great job adjusting the neck prior to leveling. Not a big deal, but it means more work.
>>
The next step is to put lines on it, again. This time, we'll be doing the opposite. We'll be trying to file away until there's a thin black tine across the fret. If we get any breaks in that line, we've gone too far.
>>
>>65895828
Maybe dumb question, but im going to ask anyway. When you say level, you mean like 100% flat? So say i were to do that, id adjust it flat, level the frets, crown them.. then string it all up and set up the guitar as usual?

Not really. New Classical guitars don't start to get good until the $1000 price range.

What Yamaha do you have, some of the older ones like the G250 are really good now that they have aged. Those are pretty affordable if you want to upgrade.
>>

>>65902818
Are you completely new or are you coming from classical guitar?

If you're new, just get the Squier Affinity Tele pack, which includes a small practice amp and a "gig bag".
You don't really need an amp until you're good enough to be playing with a band; you could just buy the guitar itself or a more pricey one and learn it acoustically until you feel ready to fork out the cash for an amp.

If you already know how to play, you should increase it to around £300 at the least.

Taake's better for learning how to play/write BM, more interesting chords. There's some interesting droning ideas in Burzum though (like in Keliohesten or that small bit in A Lost forgotten sad spirit where he drags an octave chromatically while the original note rings out)
Also Inquisition. It's less conventional but there's some great ideas too.
