it's power pop
Well post-hardcore/ math rock is a big influence on their sound, which is an offshoot of punk. It is essentially a very well written indie pop/ college rock album which is rooted in that 90s dischord sound and uses the frantic energy and dissonance to great effect.
So yeah, in a literal sense it is 'pop punk'. But pop punk as it is known today generally refers to a lot of overproduced chart-chasing bands from that era to the mid 00s that have far more in common with boybands than with any actual rock music. So I guess this is some kind of putdown thread? Congrats I guess

frankly i just moved out of my childhood home, not like going to college but like moved all my shit out and everything to a different state. i work, i come home, i dont know anyone, living in middle of huge city. this album means alot to me right now, 90% of what i listen to is jazz but for some reason this record, at this part of my life, its fucking beautiful. make fun of it if u want but if u havent been at this point of your life then u just wont get it.

I like how that sounds. What are some other "future rock" sounding albums?
>>65815958
Agreed.
One of my favorite albums of all time, without doubt. Nothing else sounds like it, really.
