You might not like him as a human being, and you might not like the songs that he sings on, but tell me that the vocals on Live Forever aren't

1) exactly what they needed to sound like
2) very well done
3) very unique in the context of early 90s alternative rock

He spawned probably hundreds of thousands of imitators too, so that's gotta be worth something.

Death sentence?
>>
>>65803866
you are confusing his song writing with his voice

>>65803888
jagger is exactly where he should be

cobain is fucking overrated as a vocalist. don't confuse songwriting with vocals alone

>>65803890
>singing higher automatically makes a vocalist better
when will plebs learn?

These lists are pointless unless we specify what the metric is. Pure octave range? Axl Rose should be in the top three, and Mike Patton top of the list.

General vocal technique? Mike Patton should be higher, as should Freddie Mercury.

Fits their music best? Well that's pretty much entirely subjective, and kind of hard to rank, as it just comes down to personal taste.

Note, I just pointed out a couple of obvious examples, couldn't be fucked re-arranging the whole list.
>>
>>65804667
>mention range
>not mention Beefheart

Son....
>>
>>65804667
attitude, charisma, fit the music, convey emotion, actual sound of voice etc.

little to do with 'proper' range/technique
>>
>>65804751
In that case undoubtedly Beefheart
>>
>>65804764
fuck off
>>
>>65804692
He's good, but his range isn't incredible, it's not even notable compared to the two I listed, or even Chris Cornell.

>>65804751
I mean, it does seem odd to leave Axl Rose or Iggy Pop off the list if those are the metrics (once again, just the first couple examples that came to mind), as both do that pretty well, but I get that by those metrics, it's just a subjective "I like them more' sort of list.

As far as being that goes, I don't have any issues with your tastes, they're all pretty good at what you said.
>>
>>65801561
lol nice bait mait
>>
>>65804851
I considered both of them but Iggy isn't good enough imo, he's more of a frontman than an actual good vocalist and Axl is too grating desu

>>65804853
ebin
>>
>>65804894
Sure, but both do fit those metrics pretty well as far as attitude, charisma, fitting the music and conveying emotions though. Iggy's not a particularly technically proficient singer, but as a vocalist I'd say he's pretty great. And sound of voice is obviously subjective, I love Axl's voice, but a lot of people hate it.

I think you've kind of mixed up qualities that make someone a good frontman, and ones that make them a good singer, so it gets a bit hard to judge.

You're going to need some serious editing if you want this to be a good list, OP
>>
>>65804974
Nope, I focused solely on the vocals only. If I was including frontman ability I mercury, jagger etc would be much higher up
