as someone who doesn't listen to metal, and finds most all of it to be edgy and unenjoyable, would i like this album?

Well the black metal(ish) vocals might be a turn off right away if you don't like harsh vocals. Most people who don't like metal, like this. Would I recommend this as a starter for the genre or metal in general? Hell no this is pure shit and the only album of it's kind because the rest is pure shit. Start off with some proto / old heavy metal.

It served as my gateway into metal, so yeah. I had no experience listening to extreme music or harsh vocals and somehow this record charmed me. Now a good 40% of my music collection is of the extreme variety. So grateful to these guys for providing that avenue, for opening my eyes and destroying my prejudices.
