Hey /mu/,
What do you listen to when you need to concentrate for extended periods of time?
I listen to a lot of genres, but I find most of my favourites distracting while studying (post-punk, post-rock, indie/alternative, noise rock etc.)
I know some of the most popular drone, (dark) ambient and (minimal) techno artists, but I'm sadly musically illiterate in classical and free jazz.
To contribute, I found Platislow, Ceephax, Plastikman, Teeth of the Sea, Ratatat, Bersarin Quartett, Nadja, Wife Sunn O))), Earth and Aphex Twin decent, but most of these are obvious examples.
just put on any eno ambient
or better yet, nothing at all

I've got used to having music on and listening to those I mentioned, but after too many listens they get stale.

I just discovered this album, Ratatat - Classics, it's great for studying i think. Ambient/drone stuff is a bit too relax for me to keep focus, so this kind of instrumental is usually what i'll listen to when studying. Ghost I-IV by Nine Inch Nails is also good for that, if you're into that kind of stuff
Boards of Canada
i listen to glitch hop/future house/heavy metal when studying or when i have my free time, but i recently discovered that while playing games, classical music is the best choice
