It depends how long the songs are. If it is a 10 track CD then yeah, that's pretty short to me. But if it is a 5 tracker or something around that I consider it normal.

My cutoff for a 35 minute album would probably be 9 songs. That's mostly 3 minuters with some 4 and 5ers sprinkled in, so yeah.

I mean 30 minutes and under is considered an EP, so bearing in mind that most albums are somewhere between that and 2 hours in length, yes 35 minutes is very much on the short side. Also factoring in that albums of that length are more likely to be pleb garbage (not to say there isn't loads of brilliant material), I can imagine the mean length for great records being closer to 50 minutes.
