A good half of the album is about how much life sucks.
"Today" alone is about Corgan's thoughts after a suicide attempt. "Hummer" and "Soma" are pretty depressing lyric-wise, and "Silverfuck" pretty much describes a suicide scene on its own.
In fact pretty much every song other than "Luna," "Cherub Rock," and maybe "Quiet" are pretty depressing when you really listen to them.
