Or when some dude from /x/ discovered an album in the shady Russian torrent tracker. Things like that.
Creepy backstories are a plus. Obviously anyone posting Bandcamp or Soundcloud links ITT needs to fuck off.

If you want to find obscure music, check out the newgrounds audio portal. Bunch of stuff that was only uploaded there that no one has ever really heard. Most of it is shit of course.

Theres a couple of drone/ambient bands that do this sort of stuff nowadays, but a lot are moving to bandcamp as well.
The only cassette releases only band i know that made great music and had a tiny bit of success/popularity is Ajilvsga. You can probably find some of their albums online, I recommend The Harvest.
