I saw Magma in Seattle a few months ago. The band members wore their band shirts. It was actually pretty acceptable.

I'm gonna agree with him, but only because the East Coast has way more scenes I'm turned onto. The only major scenes in the West Coast are Los Angeles, Seattle, and Vancouver - the scenes in San Francisco, San Diego, and Portland are tiny. The East Coast has New York (The Bronx, Manhattan, and Brooklyn in particular), Boston, Washington, DC, Gainesville, Chapel Hill, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Montreal. Still, tons of great Cali (and Washington state) bands, especially in punk. Also, jazz has never been considered a California thing, but that's unfortunate because a number of the greatest jazz composers have been Californian (most notably Ornette Coleman)
