Love this album, but it's another one that stems from cap'n jazz.
Just like owls and american football.
Favorite genre currently.

sometimes boring and wanky sometimes amazing
these guys are god-tier (their first album is mathier than this one)
"Math Rock" is such a meme genre. Are you seriously going to make a Rock Sub-genre just Because you use a different time structure?
>>65614636
That's not what math-rock is you smug girl
>>65614672
BOOM GRILLED
>>65614672
Then what is it fuck boy? Cause the appeal of bands like Tera Melos, Hella, Don Caballero, etc is "muh wank". Not saying they are bad but the whole schtick is odd time signatures. Why make a Sub-genre about it?
>>65614922
It's about jarring rhythms (Hella) and complex rhythmic structures (King Crimson's Discipline) and genre's sole purpose is to help you find more things like it.
What the fuck is wrong with that?

>Jarring rythms
Odd time signatures
>Complex structures
Odd. Time. Signatures
>Find things similar to it
That's the thing. They all sound fucking different. Searching for music using the Math tag is terribly unhelpful

not the guy you're replying to, but i don't think complex structures means odd time. a song can be entirely in 4/4 and have an overarching structure that is more complex.
>>65615265
They do not sound all different
Get your ears checked there's many similar sounding math rock bands
>>65615265
Jarring rhythms can be written in 4/4
