People Like Us is basically saying farewell to all the bands' fans and hoping that they've made a significant mark on their listeners, and have left them with plenty of beautiful and powerful music. Finally Peace is more ambiguous but I think it's a continuation of this idea with reference to the album, reflecting on the two-hour (or six-hour) apocalypse being finally over. 'Praising the sun for the damage he's done' seems like a reference to The Glowing Man (and the BTS section) and moreover their music in general - it's quite existential, he suggests that existence is only what we make of it and they've chosen to make it destructive and powerful. I'm not sure whose the 'glorious mind is' (maybe the listener's?) but it seems to be one enlightened by the band's music in one way or another.
Just my initial impressions here btw.

This makes me sad, I got the CD version specifically for the DVD.
Kind of conflicted on how I feel about the title track just being the Seer and Toussaint L'Ouverture all over again. Especially when Toussaint L'Ouverture was already just born out of the same jam that brought us The Seer.
They better do a massive set-long super-song out of those three songs and perform it at one of their last shows.

With the exception of the short reprise (which actually sounds quite different to the original), it's got a completely different structure, sound and atmosphere.

Thurston Moore makes sense because he's known Michael Gira for years, and even played in Swans on bass at one point. Maybe Will legitimately is a fan and just bought that live-record or something? Maybe it's an obscure practical joke by some /mu/tant? Kind of interesting.

What's great is the two bands practically lived together at that point. I think the story goes that Thurston saw the lyrics lying around and asked Mike to use them, and so they did. Either that or Mike couldn't find a way to use them and just gave it to them. The truth is probably both.

Jarboe was a natty bodybuilder (vegan, no drugs, no alcohol... kinda makes you wonder how such a "clean" girl could go make such disturbing songs). Before she joined Swans she actually loved to listen to them while in the gym because as she said the lyrics were concerned with body and flesh and master-slave work relationships etc. which she found pretty relevant in her life at the time.

The record store I typically order from has some Swans stuff, and every order I've ever gotten from them has been immaculate, but if I got them from there they wouldn't be signed by Mikey G. is it worth it?
