The GOAT also
Muricans just wont smell the coffee
Noel Gallagher literally saw Oasis as picking up where The La's left off.
This album has some wonderful songs, but it also has some pretty weak ones. I hate to say it, but I kind of see The La's as a lesser counterpart to a lot of the other jangly bands of the time, from The Pastels to The Clean, Miracle Legion, The House of Love, and The Dream Syndicate.

I assume you refer to songs such as Doledrum & Freedom Song, which ain't brilliant but I've heard much worse. Shack are another great band of that time, some La's b-sides are very underrated: Who Knows?, Man I'm Only Human, Knock Me Down ect. And then there's all the unreleased stuff...

lee mavers right now is a shambles. Have you seen the most recent live performances?
he was blessed with a strong voice and the ability to write strong lyrics however what he did have then is surely been thrown doen the stream.

What I'd give for a cleaned-up official release of those tapes. Mavers must be sitting on piles of unreleased stuff that we'll never hear.
