Mahavishnu Orchestra's first two albums are jazz-fusion at its greatest.
Visions of the Emerald Beyond isn't completely instrumental but it has some great musical chops.
Frank Zappa also has some great instrumental albums like Hot Rats or Sleep Dirt.
