This album went so wrong I don't even think anybody here is gonna know it exists. It's not because it's bad, it's because it's such a sharp 5/10 - absolutely uninteresting, unmemorable, only 29 min long (and released as a full length album, what a joke). I've listened to it like 5 times, just to see if it would grow on me, and every time the album ended I could remember nothing of it. And it makes me fucking sad, cause Beirut used to pretty fucking awesome and interesting. This is just empty air.

The production, the mediocre riffs, the sound of disinterest in all of their performances, some of the tracks get way too indulgent (Phantom Limb has no reason to be 7 minutes long). They've done so much better.

they could have just regurgitated classic alice in chains, but cantrell decided to continue making music that interests him instead. some of the only listenable buttrock/metal riffs I've heard this decade, and the self-indulgence made for one of their most progressive records

Make Believe and Red sucked because they were boring pop albums by a band that could do a lot better, but I have no fucking clue what was going through Rivers' head when he made this monstrosity. This is awful even by pop standards.
