What's your guy's favorite genre of classical music? I'm really enjoying String Quartets and I think it may be my favorite form I just love the timbre of the strings and how harmonically rich it can be, while still being on a relatively small scale.

How does one get better at merging 2 phrases that are clearly meant to be a single one without sacrificing their memes?
Like if you have phrase 1 and phrase 2 and they're both meant to be part of this thing you're composing but they're both kind of pointless by themselves, and even more pointless in succession, how do you reconcile them without:

2. Making one of them dominate the other
3. Ham-handed counterpoint

Try Rodeo and then Appalachian Spring and then Clarinet Concerto. Other good American composers are George Gershwin, Leonard Bernstein, John Adams, Steve Reich and Richard Einhorn.

Also Mozart is full of emotion, and Beethoven is far, far "edgier" than Mozart. by that logic Bartok would be the worst composer ever and thats just not the case.
