on one hand I respect the need for working diy bands and labels to not operate at a loss and the hope to even make small income from their art as an appreciation of its value and what they have contributed to tbe world by being creators, and doubly so as I am in a small 100% DIY band myself
on the other, I'm fucking poor
>>65450196
the kinda sad thing about modern DIY labels and the internet is that with stuff like bandcamp, there's basically no real reason for indie labels to exit.
Nowadays if you want to put something out, release it online and scrap up some change to put out a small pressing of vinyl. You don't need to a label to do any of that stuff anymore
>>65450235
not true, labels are still hugely helpful for distribution, offsetting the cost of manufacture, helping out with tours, and putting you in line with similar bands so you can more easily find a supportive fanbase. Getting put out on a label from a different region can be INSANELY helpful for booking tours and shit
not nearly as crucial as in the 80s or 90s but still important
>>65450235
labels can exist for promotional purposes, getting music to people is no longer something only provided by record labels. But not all bands are also marketing wizs or have the connections to book gigs.

Hardcore from Budapest. Not completely derivative of other bands either which is nice.
Should I keep going? I assume the same people always hang around in these threads so I don't want to post a bunch of repeats but I'm out of 2016 stuff if you count the past few punk threads.
>>65451140
They live in my city and we hang out with the same people. i'll ask next time I see any of them.
