Zero 7 is boring as hell and only makes the same sound over and over again with no sonic texture.
>muh sonic engineers

Posting the objectively quintessential trip hop album

Why trip-hop when you can acid jazz? And why acid jazz when you can bebop?
>>
>>65411675
Exactly! Trip hop pioneers and originators for sure. Portishead, Massive/Tricky, Lamb maybe?

You do realise both Portishead and Massive didn't even appreciate being categorised and put into the Trip Hop box by the press back in the day?

not him and I don't care, but this is silly. Black Sabbath doesn't consider themselves metal. Bauhaus and the Sisters of Mercy don't consider themselves goth. New York Dolls don't consider themselves punk, and while Iggy Pop likes the punk label now, back in the 70s he was actually offended by it. Innovators seem to never like the label of what they've created.

Everything but the big 3 are downtempo.
