This is the best hiphop album of the decade so far. Prove me wrong.
I have MBDTF, RTJ2, and maybe GKMC (pleb list, whatever) above it. But this is absolutely amazing and one of the easiest albums to listen to.

RTJ2 is worse, but I think Undun, MBDTF, and GKMC definitely count as top 3 hiphop albums of the decade so far. Hell, I'd go as far to say of all time, because this is really a golden era for hip-hop. MBDTF is like the Abbey Road of hip-hop.

As a self confessed hip hop fanatic I've never really given the roots a listen at all. What should I expect from this?

It's a narrative somewhat like GKMC told in reverse chronological order. It doesn't really sound all that hiphop at all really. It's pretty heavily influenced by Sufjan Stevens (the main character is named after the song Redford which is also featured on the record).

Thanks man. I'll download this right now and listen to it. I think the thing that puts me off about artists like this is that I was born long after they started and they have about 10 albums under their name so I get pretty bamboozled on where to start.
