Why do today's bands all look so boring?
Not to sound like a wrong generation-fag but bands from the 60s-80s put at least a bit of effort into looking interesting, different, catchy, etc. I'm not saying they should make a gimmick out of their appearances but seriously, you're a rockstar, you can get away with wearing anything. A lot of good bands only got the public's attention because they dressed cool / different.
Death Grips, Sufjan, and DIIV are some of the exceptions to this. They look interesting without being gimmicky or taking the focus off of their music

Literally anytime anyone does anything different with their appearance it's called a gimmick and people argue endlessly over what the point of them dressing differently is. I can see why people would want to avoid that issue.
