this is pretty much the birth place of prog and its a great album and very psychedelic
It's shit. It's a space shuttle whos crew just lost its captain. Floyd had no clue what the fuck they were doing on this album without Barrett. The albums in between Piper and Meddle are Floyd finding its legs.

you do know barrett played on like all of the songs, even if he didnt write them, right? he may not have been the bandleader at this point but its not directionless, that'd be ummagumma

according to the band they feel one album isnt better than another, they feel they put out their maximum effort and energy towards every release, except maybe ummagumma, and even then they were expected to showcase their individual styles and talents

I honestly have no idea. I mention it as often as possible, though, as it is my favorite album this far. It's a really beautiful piece that I feel everybody should hear at least once in their lifetime. People who say that ITCOTCK was the first great prog rock album just make me upset.

a fuckton of great stuff is never mentioned on mu, I very rarely see something I don't know and usually when I listen to it, it sucks
I think this music forum is extremely mainstream and superficial, but once in a while there is an okay thread
