What a shitty meme-opinion to have. Did you even listen to it?

Causa Sui are one the the more well known bands in the scene, if that type of thing even matters to you.
>>
>>65294906
Even most of the mediocre 2016 P4K BNM's are better than Art Angels m8.
>>
>>65295195
I listened to a couple minutes of it. I will listen to it. Calm down. I just don't see how this is going to drastically change the shittiness of this year so far. There doesn't seem to be anything boundary-pushing or genre-defining here.
>>
>>65295279

so far all I'm gathering is that yes this year seems to be a little slow for synth pop so far but there's still some good stuff

This is all that I've found great so far this year. Everything else has been fairly disappointing. I'm listening to Malibu for the first time now and I'm going to listen to AMSP later.

The Astonishing is a very similar album structure to Fleshgod Apocalypse

1. dream theater - astonishing
2. anderson paak - malibu
3. venomous concept - kick me
4. anchoress - romance novelist
5. daughter - not to disappear
6. chtheilist - dernier crepuscule
7. brothers osbourne - pawn shop
8. killswitch engage - incarnate
9. daz and snoop - cuzznz
10. magrudergrind - two
11. sia - this is acting
12. half japanese - perfect
>>
>>65295340
Dalek, Tim Hecker, Fall of Troy, Katatonia, Animal Collective. All artists I'd look for expecting top-tier material. Found them all quite disappointing this time around.
Deftones, Weezer, Obscura, Aesop Rock, Kvelertak, and Kendrick were all "good" at best.
>>
>>65295249
Art angels wasn't too bad. It was varied in content and had some great production on it too.
>>
It's been pretty good to me.

Fog - For Good
Astronautalis - Cut the Body Loose
Beautumn - Bordeaux
Drape - Forage
O'Brother - Endless Light
Saroos - Tardis
Western Skies Motel - Settlers
William Ryan Fritch - New Words For Old Wounds
Yoni & Geti - Testarossa

Legitimately feel sorry for anyone who thinks this year is slow or terrible for new releases. Maybe stop listening to the garbage p4k, Fantano, and /mu/ shovels down your throat and establish some tastes of your own?

>>
>>65295649
>I only listen to extremely underground releases on Bandcamp
>>
>>65295811
Not only. I was a fan of all of them before this years release except Beautumn and WSM.

The new Explosion in the Sky was weak, Radiohead was acoustic TKOL with 2 great songs, AnCo was a tiring listen, Deakin put me to sleep, DG was exactly what I expected (which isn't to say I didn't like it), the Massive Attack EP was pretty good, Odd Nosdam was a total letdown as was Nevermen, and I'll be looking forward to Tobacco.

But what's the point in trying to namedrop good albums everyone's already heard? I'm trying to expose a curious person to something they probably haven't heard this year.
>>
>>65294850
/mu/core releases

I think it's been pretty good. It's funny that people keep say listen to stuff besides /mu/core or the stuff more commonly mentioned this year but as soon as I find something I want to listen to it's nowhere to be found on the internet.

If you're referring to the newest Lana Del Rey album that was 2015 but it is extremely 2016 relevant

It apparently contains numerous coded messages indicating she knew that both Bowie and Frey were going to die soon.

Tortoise apparently knew as well indicated by their inclusion of Hot Coffee re-released on their album early this year. It seemingly contains an interpolation of Fame
>>
my hopes are high for RHCP's new album. the taster sounds good.

Its true. When it came out in September I always just spammed the Bowie shit in Honeymoon threads because it just seemed so completely odd already.

I didn't even come up with the Frey shit. Someone else here pointed that out to me.

The whole song is about him dying.
