It's the time of the last persecution.

Listen to your library, show off your backlog, babble about new music, tell us what you have been listening to today and what you will listen to in the following month, just let the good times flow.

>Xiu Xiu - Plays The Music Of Twin Peaks

Wonderful album, really nice atmosphere and instruments. Every sound is finely crafted and the vocals are pretty good. One of the best albums of the year for sure. The only negative thing is that some of the tracks felt a bit empty

Some kind of millennium themed album made between 1998 and 2002
>>
>>65281258
It was just so boring to me. Sure, it sounded great, fidelity-wise. I didn't hate it, and I don't think it's bad music.
The album seems stuck in the middle between the two types of jazz I like: slow paced, melodic jazz and frantic, wanky jazz.

Fuck, too hard for me. (if you know what I mean ;^) )

Heads up, Negativland people. I rec'd "Dead Dog Records" to oneothe last night, and uploaded it to Mega:

https://mega.nz/#!5cYXkBxQ!dsUfDsDyLKmxEnKdn5N4vd4ywLnjb_znv9sngCyYyoM

However, I didn't include the other track from the CD that comes with the Fair Use book, "Crosley Bendix Discusses the U.S. Copyright Act" [25:56], because it's not part of the album. However, I thought it would be weird to leave it unavailable, so:

https://mega.nz/#!RQAyBAQZ!tkr-jFmH03ac_d9ApBxwftJg0rx08nkh3KCmX44_Wi0

Enjoy!

>Pyrrhon - The Mother of Virtues
>death metal

Extreme Death Metal that Extreme as it is technical. But really, I'm kind of blown away on how complex this comes across. It's almost avant-garde-ish and rather wild. I also like that there is a element of noise rock that help bring this beautiful ugliness to this raw sound. If you want something that Death metal but something that is also "out there" then check these lads out.

Seijiro Murayama & Eric La Casa - Supersedure
[2009]
>musique concréte, field recordings

Unusual percussion (like the cover suggests there's sections with water dripping on drums and i can only imagine what else Murayama could've done) mixed with the field recordings of La Casa. The latter can be either goosebumps-good sounds, or outdoor noises like cars passing or people talking. The clearness of sound of the percussion is heavily in contrast with the outside environment, giving it more edge and thus personality.
My favourite piece was the third one, the one with the craziest drum solos, but I'll also give some importance to the fourth which features some crunchy earthly sounds at the start that are unbelievably nice.
I need more listens but I like what I've got from my first one.

I also think this rating scale is obsolete, but I'll give it a purple. Also Intersystems is purple too now because it's a crazy interesting record.

Sounded interesting, so I just gave it a listen. The music itself isn't anything too special, somewhat stock post-punk and twee-sounding stuff, but jeez, those lyrics. The bridge of Hearts & Crosses really caught me off guard.

Also, I'd be very interested in hearing more solo vocal stuff like on the last track.

>Father John Misty - I Love You, Honeybear
I... used to love this? I still love the last two tracks, and I still have a soft spot for "The Night Josh Tillman Came To Our Apt.", but the rest... I think I see this for what it really is now: the solo album by an unimportant member of a much better band. I know he put out stuff before Fleet Boxes, and I actually prefer that stuff. Cancer and Delirium is fantastic. So what happened? Did the fame go to his head? Apparently it got to mine last year, too.

>Animal Collective / Avey Tare and Panda Bear - Spirit They're Gone Spirit They've Vanished
That fucking first song. Ever since I found out about this album, I've been fascinated by how those sounds make me feel. Not an emotional >tfw feel, but a physical "something is happening to my ears and head" feeling. And just when you think you're out of it with the second track, nope- this time the noise is crunchy and propelling instead of hypnotizing, though it only lasts a few seconds. After that is the album proper, what the adorable story that came along with the CD describes as forest children making songs "about wooden toys and invisible friends and filled with the light of the forest". It's wonderful. Great drumming, and underneath the weirdo shit there's some great songwriting, including Penny Dreadfuls, a lovely piano ballad that Avey wrote when he was 16(!!). This'll only grow on me.

>Titus Andronicus - Local Business
If they had cut this down by ~10 minutes and if it didn't sound so muddy (the record sounds alright though), this would probably be on par with The Airing of Grievances. A good few of these tracks are cream of the crop shit, but then there's "Tried To Quit Smoking" which just goes on and on, and "(I Am The) Electric Man)" which should have been cut entirely. Definitely the weakest +@, but it's not bad, and it's what my record store had, so now it's what I have.

>Can - Tago Mago (relisten)
I thought I might have cooled down on this.
I was wrong.

I dunno about this. Very subdued most of the time, but that also means it's boring most of the time. There are tons of records where talented musicians rape their instruments, would I want to listen to one that isn't even exciting? Also, xylophones suck.

I'm mostly just really disappointed that he actually criticizes the album for not having musicians who "rape their instruments". How is this a legitimate criticism? Listening to Passed Me By, its ok but only kinda. I don't like the vocal samples on the second and fourth track, they sound like they belong in vaporware and to my ears in the way they are worked in it doesn't add anything good. The general idea behind it of this muddy thick dub sound is definitely a good one but the thing is too long and inconsistent.

The thing's built on 1 decent idea,
30 minutes is too much seeing as nothing else even mildly interesting is introduced

Also I don't get what you mean about long and inconsistent making no sense, its inconsistent because only half of the tracks work while the other half fall flat and cause they are also all based on the same idea its too long to stay interesting all they way through.

If it was 20 minutes and only included the better half I would've liked it much more.
