why did /mu/ used to like metal but now they hate it?
>>65276012
We grew up
People started to care more about their image than the music they listen to
>>65276012
same reason most 12 year olds like it then stop when they turn 15
>>65276012
We have the /metal/ generals tho
>>65276012
honestly i don't think /mu/ ever really recovered from the gorefag but that's just me.
/metal/ is alright but can't ever hold a candle to how it used to be. oh well.

/metal/ has way too much shitposting and not enough elitism
it's getting to the point where threads are breaking from the general and are flooding the board
>>65276049
I invest in this

Too much edge. Can't get bitches being mad all day.
Herd mentality + some people change music taste as they grow older. It's all about bands and genres nobody like or have heard of right now.

this mindset is hilarious and unfortunate. darkthrone for example is a great black metal band, already in an unpopular genre, im unfamiliar with the latter works mind you but the artist is very consistent up until panzerfaust. yet as soon as he becomes "popular" (1 million views on transylvanian hunger) everyone becomes too self conscious to list it in their top tens. then come bands that were really big and play great music like ac/dc. suddenly its dadrock
and dejavu

>not enough elitism
i honestly don't understand why this should a good thing

>everyone becomes too self conscious to list it in their top tens
Only people who are in it for the image do it, and posers (basically the same thing).
Metalheads including myself acknowledge the genius that is Transylvanian Hunger, and nobody would ever deny the brilliance of artists like Morbid Angel or Sodom simply because they are popular, it's when a band becomes "accessible" that people start becoming self conscious - see metallica

if you don't understand you are part of the problem
Punks about to come back
We realized that Swans were way more br00tal \m/(-_-)\m/

i can list off several things i think makes someone a poser, like calling themselves a metalhead, making music a personality and not an interest. and people definitely would start shitting on those bands (they aren't even that impressive anyways, to call it brilliance is stupid). "accessible" isn't the artists fault, they just ended up popular and now they are shit because they are popular. i already routinely shit on both sodom and morbid angel because their vocalists are awful and they as artists float on their single one hit wonder 30 years ago, and people agree with me. just the same as when i was shitting on metallica the people around start puppeting my opinions and turning off the radio if they for some reason managed to hear their song because people are manipulative. by the way, that is the definition of poser and you fit the bill quite nicely

I have been seeing more threads about metal recently, mainly thanks to new Vektor album, looks like /mu/ is slowly recovering from Pitchfork cucking.

you couldn't be more wrong, liking top 40 pop and hip hop is very fashionable right now

p4k gave that album like an 8.4
