Does anyone remember when /mu/ was good?
>>
Way before that faggot

2009 onwards was the downfall
>>
I do
it was a mixture of actual music discussion and tripfag-based community shitposting
good times
>>
>>65189774
I'm pretty sure no-one remembers this, no. Cuz it never happened.
>>
/mu/ was never good.

>a mixture of actual music discussion and tripfag-based community shitposting
oh, so exactly like it is now? fascinating.

do tell us more gramps about how /mu/ was exactly the same back in the day only it was better because it happened in the past. this is truly riveting stuff

>literally the r/lewronggeneration of shitposters
>>
>>65189869
this kek
>>
It's not much different except less metal and a lot of ironic shit posting, also there's less tripfags fighting for attention.
>>
>>65189869
now the "music discussion" consists of a series of reposted memes and the shitposting is /b/-flavored, childish and hostile
>>
>>65189935
>less metal
this could be about to change given the state of /metal/
>>
>>65189944
>implying music discussion in the past wasn't a series of reposted memes
good one newfriend
>>
>>65189869
/mu/, and 4chan in general. did used to be more elitist. I think there were some benefits to that.

Not much has changed except back in the day there was no kpop and we actually had sharethreads.

Sharethreads were the only good thing about mu and now they are shit along with mu
>>
/mu/ used to have a distinct atmosphere, now its /b/ with album covers instead of cp
the average age of poster went from 19-20 down to about 16

it's not all bad. there was definitely a point where this board had literally no janitors at all. it was either 2011 or 2012. in a moment of extreme autism I completely ruined the board for a few days by constantly spamming The Bends to forced meme status until other people started joining in. there were points where nearly half the threads in the catalog were just pictures of The Bends and I never got banned once for any of it

the janitors here are shit, but at least they exist now. couldn't get away with that shit anymore
>>
>>65190160
weirdly true
the decline in quality of /mu/s content correlated with the rise in popularity of hip hop
its fans tend to be younger and less intelligent, so its no surprise I guess

>no kpop
is this actually an issue? I mean obviously /kpg/ is the worst thing ever, but I pretty much never see any kposting outside of there, which means they at least have the decency to stay in their containment zone

or do the janitors just kill any out-of-thread posts? or am I just blind?
>>
/mu/ was pretty good before "feels" and tripfag attention whoring.
>>
>>65190290
nah they stick to their thread but people still get upset to see it in the catalog
>>
>>65190160
this
It just got confirmed when yeezus came out, /mu/ turned unbearably cringey and it has gone worse by the hour.
>>
>>65190311
i was with you for feels, but tripfag attention whoring has been here since 09. i'd say it has probably even been declining since 2012.

i came across this gem again recently:
http://pastebin.com/m7771e22c
>>
but as a real note, in my opinion i think /mu/ went to shit right when whatever fucking lame tripfag [Antz?] kept pushing that memerap branding and it eventually stuck and every thread mentioning the word "rap" was immediately flooded with the shit

then it got warped into different genres and now we have dumb forced shit like poseur-core or whatever it is now
>>
>>65189869
t. 2011fag
>>
>>65190376
that's just a clear evolution from patriciancore mentality except with less "grace"
>>
obviously pleb/patrician is the worst thing to happen to this board, as evidenced by the fact that no-one thought to mention it. it's just an assumed part of the board's vocabulary. it's so ingrained that no-one would dare challenge it. but there was a time when it wasn't used, believe it or not
>>
Its never had a change its just typical 4chan culture. If you want to improve it than do so with your own posting.
>>
What happened to the cringe/autism threads we used to have?

>>65190376
this is also true
>>
>>65190402
i actually liked the pleb/patrician thing because it was just an umbrella term for music as a whole that you could actually live by, if that makes sense

when it started to nitpick certain genres it sucked the life out of any discussion or debate
>>
>>65190420
i still feel like /mu/ helped reintroduce those words into the public lexicon because no one was really using those words on other boards at the time it first started. (didn't even see it outside of 4chan while now you can see it on twitter/fb/tumblr/etc. all the time.)
>>
ITT:

>the things that were popular when I was younger were better than the things that are popular now! sure they were shit, but you don't get it maaaan! they had their own unique charm! i-i can't describe it exactly-

hmm, you guys sound an awful lot like a certain group of people. maybe you should start jamming to some LED ZEPPELIN and QUEEN :^) man, music was just so much better in the 70s!
>>
>>65190466
t. someone who has 6 months browsing /mu/
Go back to your autistic rym thread you fucking coward.
>>
>>65189799
This 2007-2009 were the golden years. The memetic posting of MPP is what destroyed the culture of this board.
>>
>>65190466
t. starting posting in 2012

if you've ever used "meme-x" outside of this thread, then you're part of the problem

>>65190518
pretty much this
>>
/mu/ died when /mu/core became a thing.

It started festering when patriciancore became a thing.
>>
>>65190506
>>65190532
haha, I fucking love AC/DC too! god, kids these days just don't know REAL rock music when they hear it! I fucking jam KISS and MOTLEY CRUE records at top blast and I don't care who hears it! \m/
>>
>>65190560
salty 2012baby mad that he missed the golden days of /mu/
>>
>>65190560
the fact that you try to distance from the people you mock while actually being the same as them is just pathetic.
those bands are fucking terrible but at least try to show some nerve you dumb skinny faggot.
>>
>>65190590
Now when I llisten to a REALLY good song, I start nodding my head, like I'm saying 'YEEEESSS' to every beat. Yes, yes, yes, THIS ROCKS! And then sometimes I switch it up like. No, No, No! DON'T STOP A-ROCKIN!
>>

>>
>>65190677
this is what we've been reduced to

literal memeposters
>>
>>65190698
Now, Grand Funk Railroad paved the way for Jefferson Airplane, which cleared the way for Jefferson Starship. The stage was now set for The Alan Parsons Project, which I believe was some sort of hovercraft!

There are two things going on that suck.

1. There is too much memeposting. There always was, and really there should be a little, but come the fuck on we used to have the best content of any non-porn board
2) The cancerous /daily/ is a spawning ground for trips and is simultaneously the self-styled *real musical discussion* section of /mu/.

Point two really scares me, it will turn this place into RYM.
