The reason Sepultura's genre shift is creative and innovative is because they added to their sound; tribal rhythms and nu metal and other experiments. Black album, while creatively done, and a genre shift, was not innovative. It just went back to their original influences in NWOBHM and traditional metal while maintaining some of their original sound.

I don't like metal meant for non-metal fans solely because the music is really fucking terrible, some tolerable bands pop up once in a while like vektor but that's a very rare case
