hey /mu/, friendly music insider here who knows a bit more than you about The Avalanches new record. Their secret: the thousands of "samples" on their new record are all original instrumentation, spoken word, foley, etc. Have a nice night.
Sure it is
De La Soul did it first.

That literally sounds like the most innovative album concept of all time, to have a record that sounds like it's entirely sampled but is actually 100% original recordings
I know you're bullshitting, but I really fucking want it to be true

It will be the first album soncially but with famous feature artists. As a result it will be cherished and commercially successful, hailed as groundbreaking while never really straying from their previous work.

I'm afraid of this

I'm honestly curious as to how something like this would even sound like. I know deep down inside we want SILY 2.0 but it won't be that.
I can't handle all of these surprise releases

This is what I'm expecting. If it is, it won't be groundbreaking, but probably still pretty good, especially for a summer soundtrack, and that works for me

That's what makes the Avalanches so great. They manage to be groundbreaking and innovative while still being unmistakably familiar and fun. Fun is the best descriptor I could come up with because listening to The Avalanches is just a lot of fucking fun.

Solex did it in 2013.
