How did a tiny, balding prog rock drummer become one of the biggest pop superstars of the 80s?
>>
By popularizing gated drums and writing great hooks
>>
>>65037265
yeah but he was short and balding
>>
>>65037291
So what? Great voice and talent nevertheless.

Looks are not that hugely important when you can actually write GOAT songs. '80s had tons of such examples. Tom Petty looked like a rapist. Ozzy looked like a walking corpse. Yes wrote Owner of the Lonely Heart, but none of them were exactly pussy magnets. And Rob Halford was not only gay, but didn't even have a mullet.

Also, Billy Corgan lost his hair and yet made his most successful record with Smashing Pumpkins in 1995. Didn't look to sexy either.
>>
>>65036926

lots of ugly pop stars before pop music became porno

look at cyndi lauper, meat loaf etc
>>
>>65037743
Cyndi looked pretty decent back in the day
>>
>>65036926
>mfw that is what my hair looks like in real life

He ain't got shit on Sledgehammer though.

Go on..
>>
>>65037793
shave it either slick bald or really short cuz that's not a good look
>>
>>65037771

ugly wasn't right word, how about normal looking

cyndi would never be a pop star today and it's unfortunate, because she could sing and had a lot of charisma and exuded positive energy

the industry would push some autotuned teenage slut instead

Gaga

Gaga is usually almost fully covered in all her clothing and accessories. Anyway, she still sells her body

I know Gaga can sing and is talented but let's not pretend that she wasn't a total slut in all her videos
>>
>>65037291
you should go outside sometime
>>
>>65038079
Damn. That sucks, but that's life. You should just own it instead of trying to hide it.
>>
>>65038200
It's hard to "own it". Women don't usually look great with bald heads. Especially me.
>>
>>65036926
Lars Ulrich isn't a prog drummer
>>
>>65037291
>people listen to male musicians for looks
lol
>>
>>65038249
True, but at some point you just have to accept who you are. Who cares if you don't look great. It's who you are. It's not a reflection of who you are as a person. You can shave it or keep it long, but don't hide it.
>>
>>65038249
You're a woman ?
>>
>>65038376
Yeah...
>>
>>65037883
Despite that might sound like an edgy immature tirade to some, what you said is mostly true—and this is sad. I'm no music historian, but anyone can clearly see that after Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys and NSync pop idols got so much duller.

Don't get me wrong: sex has always been present in pop music, and helped sell many artists; but at least it was usually paired with some talent. Bowie, Beatles and Rolling Stones weren't total hacks, despite drowning in pussy.

Today major label pop music is much more of an excuse for thinly veiled porn. It's becoming more obvious than ever, with artists indistinguishable from fashion runway models—see Taylor Swift.
>>
>>65038398
Taylor Swift is too ugly to be a model though
>>
>>65038249
Just start one of those hair regrowth programs, lots of people suffer from hair loss
>>
>>65038249
>woman
I was gonna say just shave it and work out, but damn
>>
>>65038394
Oh, well that makes it impossible. I recommend killing yourself.
>>
Can you be skinny and look good bald? Or do you have to be jacked
>>
>>65038460
Take a look at Fantano. All your questions will be answered

not subtle enough, but good attempt

7/10

Some runway models got some ugly ass faces
>>
>>65038505
Taylor doesn't have any striking features, which is the major qualification for being a runway model nowadays. She's just normal pretty.
>>
>>65038478
>>65038420
Wait. So are you saying she doesn't have model proportions? 5'11" and 34-24-32 is literally perfect runway model material.
>>
>>65038562
That's what I think too. Face does not matter in runway modeling
>>
>>65038562
People also tend to have a thing called a face
>>
What do you do if your hairline has receded so far back it looks ridiculous even with a #0 buzzcut
>>
>>65038574
Yep, and also as >>65038505 and >>65038505 said, on the runway the face doesn't matter that much.

And anyway… Are you really calling Taylor Swift butterface? Sure her kisser looks evil, but I'd say she's beautiful by conventional standards. Next to monsters like Meghan Trainor and Grimes she's literally a beauty queen.
>>
>>65038634
>>65038079
Fuck, guys, I want to help you, but this is no place to ask such questions. Go to /fa/ or something
>>
>>65038634
Either get cancer or shave it down with a razor
>>
>>65038694
This thread was about balding men. Why should we not talk about it?
>>
>>65038704
What if you're bald and you don't have the right face shape to pull off baldness
>>
>>65038736
Become a hat man. Get a huge variety of hats.
>>
>>65038736
kill yourself then
>>
>>65038718
Because it's not related to music? I'm just saying that asking for balding advice on /mu/ is like asking your barber to recommend you GOAT djent.
>>
>>65038736
I think the issue is that you think you should look a certain way and it is weird to you if you don't look that way.

But, believe me, no one will think you look weird bald.
>>
>>65038661
>on the runway the face doesn't matter that much.
But this is nonsense, and the pic he posted is proof. They want memorable, angular faces with remarkable features. Swift has a soft round face. She does not look like a modern model
>>
>>65038755
This is the simple solution but there are lots of places where you shouldn't really wear a hat.

>>65038764
Great post thanks for contributing
>>
>>65038781
My barber dabbles in djent on the side, thank you very much.
>>
Because he wrote good songs. I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums.
>>
>>65038781
most of /mu/ is awkward, balding shut-ins anyway, so this seems like a good place to talk about it

Does a receding hairline count as balding if you still have all your hair at the crown

If she can be a model with her height, Taylor definitely can.

I agree with you to an extent: SOME models have angular faces and remarkable features (which often don't even look cute). But that doesn't mean all of them look that way.

At least she would definitely have a go as an actress.
>>
>>65039131
Sky Ferreira is a model because she's a famous musician, and designers like that cross media bullshit. Swift could be a model for similar reasons. But Sky or Taylor without fame wouldn't be anywhere near a runway.

Also, Sky has a much more interesting face than Swift anyways.
>>
>>65038944
Kind of, yeah
>>
>>65039195
Well techically she started modeling back in 2010, before her first LP.

And I think I misunderstood your post >>65038540 . I mean, "uninteresting" faces can actually be desirable for runways, where the models are stripped of any personality. Movies are completely different in this way.

How did the album after THIS fucking album sell platinum?
>>
>>65037883

She might if she forced the feminist meme hard enough.
She would have to do the same shtick as that fat "all about that bass" bitch
>>
>>65038249
Shave it and wear wigs.
>>
>>65039480
Because the album after that one had some catchy songs on it and was promoted better.
>>
>>65039442
>In 2009, she was signed to Parlophone,[22] and began finalizing the debut studio album that she says was first begun when she was 14 years old.
It's also worth noting that "modeling" is a vast and varied industry, and we were talking about runway modeling in particular. High fashion models like Abbey Lee Kershaw and Karlie Kloss.

>uninteresting" faces can actually be desirable for runways, where the models are stripped of any personality
This isn't 1986 anymore my friend. Nowadays scouters go out of their way to get women with odd, sometimes even ugly features. It's why you see bucktooth models, freaky albinos, and trannies.

I don't really know, not all models are like that today. Watch any runway show. I agree to a small extent
>>
>>65039624
Fashion models are always anorexic chicks with man-faces
Swimsuit models are usually attractive
>>
>>65039706
Well ok, I guess I was talking about the latter because I didn't know the difference
>>
>>65039624
If Swift was a runway model, she'd be lower tier. One of those who'd have to go to college because she'd be out of a job by the age of 24. Like I said, she's only conventionally beautiful, and there are thousands of Eastern European women who look as good as she does that the industry would rather recruit.

>>65039706
>not wanting to date a starving 6'1" junkie with hairy armpits and a jaw that can chip diamonds
bruh. swimsuit models are overrated
>>
He's a bigger man than you'll ever be
>>
>>65038079

Yo, buzz it short and start rubbing rogaine on that shit. it'll fill in after a few months and nobody will notice as long as you keep it buzzed short.
>>
people like Collins (aging middle class white people) made up a large chunk of the music buying demographic in the 80s, especially once CDs came out. that's why shit like Brothers in Arms sold 30+ million copies.
