Well, if you are going to buy music, don't buy from iTunes. Not only does it come in a shit tier format, but it contributes to apple. Buy CD, and convert to whatever digital format you want, or download anywhere where you can choose the format.

aac is a better lossy format than mp3 though, providing you use the right encoding process. Unless you're buying lossless itunes is fine.

I can only use from a PC and Apple products.
Spotify has a Fire TV app and Chromecast support.
I'm not buying an Apple TV just to use AirPlay.
