I really think I made a poor choice of words. It's not a "rehash" per se, more like a song inspired by him.
But it doesn't change the point—in 1971 playing literally rock'n'roll was a joke. Of course at least they had some changes to the formula, but still to me it's incredibly low-effort.
I don't really mind that Page pulled riffs from everywhere. I've heard enough '50s blues to realize that the entirety rock music from '60s is based on it.
But at least don't put stuff like "Rock and Roll" on record. Radio just loves this song, and it's perhaps THE most boring song from the whole Zep catalogue, from their formation to 1975.
