There is nothing wrong with this album.
This is a great album.
If you disagree please give me a reason why other than "WAHHH WHINY FAGGOT EMO SHIT WAHHH"
My Chemical Romance is a great and very underrated (in the critical community) band with a sound all their own, and a fascinating progression.
Sure, they had a pretty terrible fanbase, but the band themself is really great (Gerard's solo stuff has been neat as well) and nobody should be surprised when it 5-10 years everybody is talking about how great MCR really were.

What a great, well thought out response.
Thank you very much.
>>64704245
grow up, bro
wasn't even a good highschool album
>>64704461
Care to explain why? Any actual critiques?
>>64704314
you didn't need to give us your 2015 list for us to know you're a pleb
The only reason they are still remembered is because they were one of the first bands to start that 2000s "Emo" trend. Musically, they really never produced anything impressive and their music only got worse as time went on.
>>64704578
I wouldn't consider myself a pleb. I like what I like and dislike what I dislike and can give actual reasons for why, unlike plebs and unlike you.
>>64704582
Have you actually listened to their music? Because My Chemical Romance really isn't emo. They had the emo look to them, but their music is really quite diverse and unique.
>>64704670
>diverse and unique
they aren't unique, because they sound just like queen if queen wore black
>>64704670
I've listened to everything from bullets to black parade. While their first album was alright, the rest just took pop rock and gave an angsty twist to it. Also, notice quotes around Emo. The music itself is not Emo but it did start a trend as far the subculture went.
>>64704245
>There is nothing wrong with this album.
Wrong. There's a lot wrong with it.
>This is a great album.
True. You can have a great album whilst there being a lot wrong with it.
This was my favourite album when I was 11. I used to think it was perfect. I still love it but there's a lot wrong with it. Starting with the fucking awful guitar solos.
>>64704544
mediocre lyrics. That reach sometimes a almost pointless and non catchy tone. I own this album myself, even at 16 in 2009 I never saw its appeal. Just an easy entry level album to rock and emo, would've been easy to forget if it wasn't for the annoying fanbase. But I see this same thread everyday amd I almost sick of looking at this album cover. Youre the reason most people dislike it. Its spammed with the same typed shit everyday
>>64704720
Queen is a definite influence, but only really in the theatricality of the band.
>>64704735
Three Cheers was pop punk with an angsty twist but it was damn good at it.
However, listen to The Black Parade again. It's a lot more complex compositionally then you're giving it credit for.
Also, listen to Danger Days. It's a lot different but it was a very interesting progression for the band.
>>64704782
I don't consider the guitar solos awful at all, if you're referring to the amount of them though then you didn't get the point they were going for with the sound of the album.
>>64704805
Non catchy? You're joking right.
>>64704805
on a side note. Listen to the album I gave you. Silverstein was god-tier shit back in the day
>>64704314
was gonna let you slide until i saw meghan trainor... what the actual FUCK?!?!?!?!?! honestly i think you have to be a woman that is 17 or younger.
>>64704314
>22. Title- Meghan Trainor
Yeah guys, My Chemical Romance is the best band ever!
>>64704852
Quit spamming this album everyday. Youre the reason I hate it now, cause you cant stop your autism from showing
>>64704852
please just explain to me how this band musically sets itself apart from other rock groups
I agree that The Black Parade is a great album marred by it's creators and the culture they represents' reputation, but dude. Chill.
This thread is one of the most autistic things I've seen in a while.
>>64704314
Jesus Christ is your brain just an empty void that you fill with pitchfork lists.
>>64704314
>cherry bomb in top 5
>thank your lucky stars over depression cherry
>kendrick and vince staples over death grips
>meghan trainor over anything
seriously tell me how your list is at all credible and how meghan trainor has any artistic credibility at all.
>>64704245
It's not bad, but some songs are way too cliché and come across as a parody of classic rock (Teenagers is especially bad in that regard). imo the definitive emo pop albums are Three Cheers and FUTCT, but let's be honest people are gonna talk more about The Strokes-tier indie b/c it was objectively better rock at the time.
>>64704852
Three cheers wasn't as impressive as you say it was, all their songs were formulaic and forgettable. Black Parade was an hour of mediocre, over produced rock, and if it weren't for the existing fanbase at the time, it would've drowned out in the sea of other albums in the genre released around the time.
One of their biggest mistakes was not maintaining a rawer sound
Weezer did that twist much better on Pinkerton (a record I don't like much, mind you.)
>>64704852
>complex compositionally
Do you even play a instrument? Their songs a mostly octaves. They have like 5 solos on the whole album; they're so easy a biggener guitar player could probably remember them. Just because there are a few horns and alittle piano playing in a album doesn't mean its complex.
>>64704853
Silverstein and all those bands in that scene were my shit back in high school. I was also 16 in 09.
>>64704864
>>64704873
And of course you only focus on that.
Have you actually listened to the album? It's a very interesting, fun record that blends 50's pop and 2010's pop incredibly well.
Lyrics are pretty weak, and Bang Dem Stick is a god-awful track, but production wise it's real gem.
This just proves that you guys just like to shit on things without actually listenting to them.
>>64704880
I don't spam it everyday, and I haven't made a My Chemical Romance thread in probably a year. I barely even come to 4chan anymore (Still come maybe once or twice a week because decade long habits are difficult to break).
>>64704904
The theatricality and the blend of various rock subgenres.
There's a litany of other things the band has going for them though.
>>64704942
I don't even read Pitchfork.
>>64704946
Cherry Bomb is brilliant.
It's the Pet Sounds of hip-hop.
Not even hyperbolizing.
Depression Cherry was mediocre as fuck, even Beach House has said it wasn't the album they wanted to make.
Jenny Death was great, but Niggas On The Moon was not.
>>64704946
See above.
>>64704245
The Black Parade was a legit 10/10 pop-punk masterpiece.
Danger Days is underrated too.

The fanbase may be emo but the band is not.

this
Best pop punk album of all time coming through.
This is genuinely a great album. FOB explores several different musical influences on it, the songwriting is on point, and Stump's vocals are great as always.
It's catchy from start to finish. Literally perfect pop punk and one of 2008's best albums.

for me it's a tie between that, A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, All Killer No Filler, or pic related.
>>64704245
Obnoxious vocalist, pretty bad lyrics, loudness wars all around, vapid theatrics, spreaded plagiarism, embarrassing and half-baked genre experiments. Believe me, I'm all for reevaluating good, popular albums but TBP is pretty bad. It's only use, IMO is as one of the many 00s relics along with Simple Plan and Slipknot.
To people with less music experience, it may seem like the best thing in the world but further listens really reveal just how contrived the whole thing is

Shit m8 I didn't know Gerard way said that. I always did like him as a person... he seemed to reject his shitty fan base. He's in interesting. Guy.
As for the album, I don't like the stigma surrounding it. They're wildly popular with I am, and with really fuckin edgy kids. Like school shooter edgy. But it's a surprisingly solid album, I was expecting it to be shit. I also find the concept very cool. I like the idea and the way it's executed. I don't ever actually listen to it, but I do know it's solid

Fuck off with the shitty 21p. People always fucking post about this legitimately terrible band on mu Jesus Christ
I think it's a good pop rock album. The lyrics suck, but every song "works", they're all catchy enough.
I love the production and how "massive" every song sounds.

Ah. Fine. I suppose there is a large influx of 21P posts
