STGSTV is similar to early solo John Frusciante stuff and some of the stuff Phil Elvrum has done.
MPP is literally Beach Boys with more synths instead of real instruments.
Even if they were more unique, making a new genre is completely unnecessary since it's still psych pop in the end even if they took their own personal approach to the genre.
