Overall, the Stripes were awesome. I never listened to them much after Elephant but they never were 'bad' to me

Ok, he is great at what ge does (which is that "blues/noise/rock" thing) but I absolutely guarantee you that if you put him in a musical situation slightly different to what he ussually plays he will shit his pants, hit 5 octave pedals and 3 distortions and then call it a "statestatement". He is a great bluesman (or was), but not a great guitar player. No way.

Elephant is a super nostalgic album, love every song on it (probably because I've listened to it about 1000 times)

Anyway that's what makes him a good musician, he's smart and applies his talents to the genre he's part of. He doesn't do shit that he can't.
