I'm also drinking but it's more because i like the feeling and taste of the cocktails rather than a complete focus on relieving the pain of life. that is only a secondary objective as through my actions life has gotten noticeably better and the self hatred has lessened

well, i do feel like cocktails are a superior method to drinking. you can still get messed up quite easily but it's a more pleasurable experience. just slow down and get a feel for the different level of drunkenness and take in the warmness and still have a mind for the arts, if just for a bit.

yes, cocktails are a pain to make as you need many ingredients to make a wide variety and the drink is gone by the time you collected everything (at least for me). it seems weird to order one when you're out drinking and your friends are all ordering shots as well. maybe it's not for everyone. having a a full liquor cabinet and a variety of drinks may carry they negative connotations of a alcoholic as well.
i simply keep to martinis as they're easy to make and satisfying.
as far as classical goes, i hope that one day you can experience the same joy that others get from the pieces.
