The most exciting bit about this track is that it seems to intimate the album is going to have some grand flow. Eh, IR is mid tier Radiohead. It's their most mature album musically but thematically it lacks the punch of the 4 albums prior to it. There's a sort of beautiful darkness within it to be sure but compared to the gut punch dread of albums like HTTT or Kid A it just feels like a lighter load to me. I actually prefer Burn The Witch to most of IR in all honesty so I'm feeling pretty confident in LP9.

I find Idioteque gets a little weaker the more I listen to Kid A. It was great the first few times I heard it but as I got more familiar with the album I started preferring other songs. These days Idioteque isn't even in the top half for me anymore.

Hail to the Thief is legitimately worse than Pablo Honey. The notion that anyone would prefer that unfocused and tonally inconsistent mess to the polished perfection of In Rainbows is evidence of this board's atrocious taste. 15 Step is the best song of the 2000s; go away.

Funny you choose that one because it's actually my favorite, and I assure you it's hardly inconsistent in its tone. Its tracklisting is all over the place but every song is rife with dreariness and despondency, save maybe the faint hope of Sail To The Moon, and even that sense of hope feels a hair misguided and unsure. I'd argue that HTTT is in the running for Radiohead's darkest album. It's just so fucking hopeless from start to finish.

I thought it was common knowledge that while HTTT is a mess, it still has some of their greatest songs with There There and Sit Down Stand Up.
However, it is their only album that has songs on there that I absolutely despise, and I never listen to it anymore.

HTTT has far and away my favorite atmosphere of their albums. The whole thing, even Sit Down, Stand Up feels like listening to a cold autumn day. I get that the album's lack of tracklisting cohesion has turned people off and even the band themselves have admitted to not giving it the attention it deserved but honestly I'm fine with the album as it is. And even then, the album has no shortage of well-liked tunes like 2+2=5, There There, Myxomatosis, Where I End And You Begin, and Wolf At The Door. If anything I think Punchup and I Will are a bit weaker than the rest but they still fit in the album just fine.
