I could have written better lyrics when I was in middle school, and the synths sound like some old school runescape shit

such a boring and pretentious album, and just remember that people like you are why the poseurcore meme exists

My first Coil album was And The Ambulance Died In His Arms and I fucking loved that shit to death.
I only got halfway through Ape of Naples before I decided not to waste my time. It wasn't horrible, but it was totally shallow.

>>
>>64568413
I like a lot of the "poseurcore" albums, I enjoy the shit out of Exuma and John Fahey.

Its a mindset that needs to be washed from /mu/ that listening to certain music puts you above others. A lot of those albums go on elitists charts all the time and it's no different than droning /mu/core.
>>
It is pretty bad. Most serious Coil fans I know don't like it that much.

It's less a Coil album and more "Sleazy and Thighpaulsandra rush some old recordings out the door after overproducing them." It's a good introduction to Coil I guess, but because Jhonn had no hand in any of its production beyond providing the initial vocals, it sort of falls flat in terms of creativity - Thighp and Sleazy are far more technically proficient than they are creatively gifted.

>>64568463
gee, I wonder why it isn't?!?!

montie likes music that should generally be considered 'poseur-core' like john fahey and fishmans but hates coil, this heat, and captain beefheart, which is why they're on there
what a massive hypocrite
>>
>>64568463

Blind Joe Death is on it.
>>
>>64568486
>Its a mindset that needs to be washed from /mu/ that listening to certain music puts you above others. A lot of those albums go on elitists charts all the time and it's no different than droning /mu/core.

Montie just admitted that he is what is killing /mu/ all by himself.
>>
>>64568486
If that's your actual intent and you're not just trying to get reactions. You realize you're only making things worse right?

Now thanks to you people that do not like those albums think they're better than people that do like those albums because, "they don't force themselves to enjoy posuer core."

All you've done is create another branch of elitistes.
>>
>>64568202
no i got it when i was 15-18. as an angsty gay white kid with existention questions about life and death and about relationship between my conscious and subconscious self and the world around me. i was 16 and though it was deep then i started getting in to more intellectual art and philosophy. its not awful but its not deep.
>>
>>64568536
Fuck me, I guess I'm blind.

Why is that the album they use? Why not Fare Foward Voyagers or America or the great Santa Barbra oil slick? What about that album makes it more posuer core than the rest?
>>
>>64568650

Because it's his first one and people pick it as their favorite because of that.
>>
>>64568646
>no i got it when i was 15-18. as an angsty gay white kid with existention questions about life and death

>>
>>64568230
i dont think the disintegration loops counts. even poseurs make fun of it and call it poseurcore.
>>
>>64568732
>>64568650
because it was his most shocking. coming out in the 50s it was considered very experimental. it sounds like pretty typical acoustic guitar playing but if you consider it ethnographically instead of purely sonically its the most interesting. dont get me wrong he was into making some poseurcore shit in the 90s but nothing as shocking as blind joe death was at the time of its release.
>>
Poor John Fahey. He ended up as both poseurcore AND montiecore.

No man deserves that.

>the velvet under ground
>Fishmans

>Faust

>captain beefheart

Are you people just adding any shit you don't like to these charts now?

I thought posuer core was supposed to be albums that the majority of /mu/ didn't like, and a certain small group of people liked them and stock out from the rest.

But the majority of /mu/ likes those bands/artists so why the fuck are they on the posuer core chart.

Say, this is pretty good! Not poseur at all!
>>
>>64568940
yeah poseurcore is basically normiecore now. i thought it was supposed to be avant teen mallgoth shit like conlon noncarrow, polly bradfield, cukor bila smert', any onkyo, lowercase, etc. that chart is basically slightly experimental pop that everyone and their mother likes... not stuff only tryhard and (pseudo?) intellectuals like.

>>

Montie you didn't respond to my other post.

Don't you realize that you are the one perpetuating elitism on this website, not the people that enjoy what you call "posuer core.

You have convinced a few half wits that a handful of well loved and enjoyable albums are "poseur core." So now they go around shitting on people who like those albums/bands and talking about how they're so much better for not "forcing themselves to like things."

You are the only reason why there are elitistes assholes on this website. >>64568545 was right, you are the person killing this place.

I don't think I am killing this place. Since I first came here in 2014, /mu/ has become one of the most popular boards on this site and it is only growing.

Also, when I started latching onto poseurcore, there was a literal /elite/ general on this board. Now there is no longer one because people should not group together and pretend that their taste collectively is better than others on this board
>>
>>64569298

You do realize that /elite/ and /advanced/ were taking the piss, right?

I get why you say that, but once you figure the album out it's really, really good.

IDK, The Residents are a cult band for a reason, but I'd rather people not come up with more reasons to try to dislike them. They have some brilliant stuff in their discog, it's just that they did eventually surpass Meet the Residents.

That's sick. Did you get the chance to see him(or any other notable industrial/noise artists) live in the 90s or early 2000s? What was the landscape and audience for this sort of stuff like back then, before the Internet took some of the "magic" away?
>>
>>64569291
I don't come here often much anymore, you're actually right though. Crash Worship surprised me, didn't know they were that well known.
>>
>>64569776
Even though I'm old, I still didn't see him during his prime, so some of the "magic" was already over. During the 90s and the 00s noise and industrial was already an established - yes it was still "outsider" music - genre.
The few times I saw him live it was an experience, still. Very loud and raw and energetic. I haven't seen him live for some time, though. Is he still giving concerts? I don't even know. I saw him posting wedding photos on Facebook and talking about how much he despised Douglas P.
