how'd y'all like the new radiohead track. I thought it was okay, not one of their best but not one of their worst. like 6-7/10 imo.

HOLY SHIT THIS IS DOPE

DEM STRINGS

that fucking string production is great
>>
It's really, really good.
>>
been listening to a lot of James Ferraro lately and forgot how boring other artists are.
>>
It's really good, if they really turn their shit into modern classical stuff it would be a really good album.
>>
The strings in the chorus tho
>>
very Bjorkian
>>
>>64551576
I'm not sure how much I like it. It seems somewhat better than TKoL but that really isn't saying much.

>>

>>
It's alright. Kind of a let down since this is the track they have been hinting at for quite some time. It sounds somewhat formulaic, if that makes sense. If the whole album is like this, then it will be pretty good though.
>>
>>64551928

sounds a lot like that song they did for James Bond.

>>
LP9 WHEN HOLY FUCK THIS IS LIT
>>
Not stellar but enjoyable
>>
i wish the strings came in crashing towards the end, but the generalized tone throughout the song is alright

wish the chorus was a bit more energetic
>>
I literally cannot see a single similarity between this and a Coldplay song other than the fact that it has strings in it, which iirc, Coldplay were not the first band to use string instruments.
>>

>>
>>64551991
I can hear some Coldplay influence in this track. I'm sure Thom and the guys consider them contemporaries and get inspiration from their work
>>
>>64551576
this is growing on me with each listen. cant wait for the full album. i give this song a 7.5 or 8/10
>>
So I can tell this is song is mostly Johnny's fault -- er, I mean, style.
>>
The song itself is really weak, it's just Thom Yorke moaning over garageband-tier drum machines
>>
>>64551576
maybe they'll release a better single later because this is ok but not great
perhaps it's just a taster
>>
not a fan of the electronic beats, but overall it's a good song

7/10

reasonably hyped for LP9
>>
>>64551991
its bait, or underage plebs just wait till the night, then we can have a good conversation about the song
>>
>>64552052
yea he's had a real hard on for strings ever since he started doing film scores

guarantee at least one song on this album has some weird polyrhythmic drums
>>
>literally Viva la Vida
holy fuck Radiohead fell off the wagon
>>
>>64551576
Am I the only one that gets a Kendrick Untitled 05 vibe from this?
>>
So it looks like i was wrong. I was predicting that Spectre was just a one-off in that style, and that TKOL's follow-up would be a lot more synthy and some of their poppiest work to date.

Not like the style matters, another 9/10 Radiohead album bout to drop.
>>
This song is definitely a grower. I would have liked it to be a bit heavier, but it probably works much better within the album.
>>
I think this is great, really excited for the album now
>>
Shittttt man this sucks

Really really bland.
>>
I feel like that track was supposed to have some tension but just didn't.
Like there was this build up that was repeated throughout the track but it was never rewarded with anything.

ITS STUPID
>>
>>64552112
>TKOL's follow-up would be a lot more synthy and some of their poppiest work to date.
this may not be 'synthy' but it certainly is one of their poppier songs in a long time

I hope this is not the best song in the album. I don't want to admit the Radiohead has became a just OK band
>>
>>64552112
>9/10 Radiohead album

no bait there is literally no reason to expect that from this single
>>
it's alright, better than anything TKoL at least, so that's something...
>>
>>64552173
Not any more or less than anything on TKOL not named Feral.
>>
oh boy i love radiohead! "your livin in a fantasy" wow so deep :O
>>
I don't really see the the similarities to VLV. Needless to say, it was their best album, apart from the title track, if you can even call it "their" album.

I like the song, but I don't think this album is meant for the masses. I barely remember anything of it after first listen.
>>
>>64552111

Yes
>>
>>64552191

hmmm

i like the strings, they sound intense -- reminds me of Johnny Greenwood's There Will Be Blood stuff.
Rest of the song doesn't really ramp up like I hoped it would tho, and the melody from Thom is a bit uninspired.

I'm hoping the rest of the album is more engaging, more interesting unique song structures.

Video is pretty cute

There's a crescendo in every bar of the strings, every bar builds up to the next bar rather than to some grandiose chorus.

Overall I don't mind it, I think it's something different, not exactly innovative by any means but I don't know why we expect Radiohead to make innovative record after innovative record. I'm pretty sure they'd rather just freely take inspirations from everything and anything and make their own thing, which this is.

Lyrics

Stand in shadows
To the gallows
This is a round up

This is a low flying panic attack
Sing-song the jukebox that goes

Burn the witch
Burn the witch
In a village

Red crosses on wooden doors
And if you float you burn
Loose talk around tables
Abandon all reason
Avoid all eye contact
Do not react
Shoot the messengers

This is a low flying panic attack
Sing a song of sixpence that goes

Burn the witch
Burn the witch
We know where you live
We know where you live

That's like the most radiofan boi excuse and people made the same excuses when TKOL was released.

desu it isn't just that the song builds up with no crescendo, it's that Thom's singing doesn't actually work with the song at all.
It's like whoever was orchestrating this was given a set of directions and then Thom just sang over the finished piece with some bleary vocal effects added to his voice.

It's a bad song and it probably needs to be a bit longer to have been able to show any of the strengths it shows within the first minute and a half or so but since Radiohead are pretty much slaves to pop song time limit it could never hope for that shit.

>>
>>64552725
Coldplay is literally just watered down U2 without the experimentation. At least Radiohead adapted U2's ability to reinvent themselves with each album through the end of the 90s.
>>
>>64552676
I don't think it's a solid single at all but it's not bad, especially if it's continued by a dark song in the album, which would make its poppy, happy-go-lucky sound a lot more sinister in that context. I hope it's Radiohead's way of lulling people into a false sense of security, otherwise I would agree this isn't a strong single, but not a bad song at all. It's a direction Radiohead haven't really explored so either way it's an interesting listen for critics and fans.

>>
Boring desu what's going on with them? I know Thom is all over this electronic shit but his solo music and Atoms for Peace kinda ruined Radiohead for me because TKOL and now this just sounds like Thom Yorke solo, I get no sense of 'band' from Radiohead anymore. Just sounds like Thom releasing shit under the Radiohead name.

This sounds like one of those tracks that would be a track that developed into an entirely different song.

This sounds like Go To Sleep with an electronic beat and strings. If it goes down any further tham this than we're in for another TKOL type deal. Not a bad album but an average album coming from a band you know can do better. And I think it's basically because of the bland electronics and the fact that as I said after hearing Thom's solo shit or AFP all this shit just starts to run together like letting a few different color paints run down into eachother until you get nothing but a grey sludge of a paint.

Hopefully this is just a weak track. Someone came out and said the album is going to sound like something you never heard before, but this sounds like shit I've heard before.

From the themes of the child-like puppets, I believe it starts in a major key and such, it changes in the chorus and the endings but again, I think that's part of the build up to a sinister track after this, as the eerie puppet world suggests contrasting dark themes and lyrics with bright imagery and music.
>>
Wow disappointing. Nothing that great about this.
>>
>>64552582
I don't like Radiohead all that much, but liked this song quite a bit.
>>
>>64553002
>b-but mah G tars!
Get over it. Its amazing, way better than anything AFP ever put out
>>
>>64553002

The song has got Jonny all over it. Did you even listen to it?
>>
>>64553014
do you think this song is amazing because if you do that's ok but i personally don't
everyone has their own seperate opinion ah
:)
>>
>>64553031
this, i'm kinda just underwhlemed and don't really give a crap about this single, i just want the album
>>
>>64553030
then they should have released the next track along side this
not this as a single that may or may not lead into something interesting
dumb fucking idiots
>>
>>64552474
>strings-oriented pop
i'm not sure about that m8, the song is too dank, and too dark for a codlplay song
>>
this single is making me think identikit wont be on here :(
>>
>>64553002
>now this just sounds like Thom Yorke solo, I get no sense of 'band' from Radiohead anymore. Just sounds like Thom releasing shit under the Radiohead name.
Are you fucking deaf? This song doesn't sound anything like Thom's solo stuff. Thom's solo stuff is bleep bloops, this song is orchestral.

CANT HE JUST PLAY FUCKING GUITAR???

im tired of this second-rate orchestral shit with thom fucking moaning over it. they have fucking delusions of grandeur. just play fucking rock music instead of pretending to be beethoven.

But if its an indicator of the quality of the album, then this is going to easily be one of radioheads best albums

This song sounds super cluttered and hectic. Maybe I'm really overinterpreting it but the way it's mixed and arranged kind of reminds me of the chaos surrounding a "witch hunt." The way that the song is in a constant state of denoumont, yet never quite reaches a climax is a lot like a witch hunt, where the process is much more interesting and seemingly valuable than the actual results. But this also kinda sounds like Coldplay
>>
>>64553092
agreed, leave the strings to the real artists like Coldplay
>>
Is 2016 the year big bands stopped caring or are just feel uninspired
I swear every big band/artist release so far this year has been mediocre as fuck
>>
>>64553024
I didn't know Pewdiepie was in radiohead.

I'm actually gonna say that this was Thom's doing, since Greeny knows how to create tension as he's shown from the There will be blood ost.
>>64553027
IT IS

You are such a fucking sperg.

FLAC and V0 up on What
>>
>>64553002
I agree with you anon

Vocals sound like Thom Yorke side project stuff. I'm really hoping the rest of the album is more interesting.

The strings show promise for something intense and dark but Thom has gotta mix it up somehow. Getting tired of his long wails he has been doing the past few years.
>>
>>64553092
They should stop doing what they want to do and do what you want them to do instead

>delusions of grandeur
>>
I like Spectre a bit more just because of the drum machine on this one, it's out of place. I'm happy they're going back on some HTTT ideas, I like that era despite not being their best one and having some duds.

>>64553092
>pretending to be beethoven
More like pretending to be Phillip Glass
>>
LP9 gettin that 5.5 from p4k famalam

I cant believe some of you are actually complaining about this single. I've had it on repeat all morning, its fucking amazing.
>>
>>64553139
they are good at making rock music.

they aren't good at doing whatever this shit is.
>>
I didn't really like the ending too much. It sounded kind of forced. A cacophonic ending works sometimes but I don't think they pulled it off here.

Besides that, it sounded like a top notch coldplay song
>>
I was hoping they would experiment but this is just bland AF

Looks like they will never top Amnesiac
>>
>>64553158
obviously, the high ratings are reserved for oppressed cultural minorities.
>>
>>64553136
I'm getting tired of falsetto unintelligible Thom too. It's like he got his hand on that shit and he's gonna keep running with it.

Calm that shit down man
>>
>>64553024
this is a really great picture of Jonny Greenwood , i met this motherfucker (briefly)
>>
>>64553171
nah those are both excellent. TKOL on is shit though

"Now listen to your father, Radiohead: If you keep this up I'm going to confiscate ALL of your Coldplay albums"
>>
>>64553002
I kinda agree. It just sounds like an orchestrated version of an Atom's for Peace song. Thom's vocals are just uninspired and too safe. I want some more yelling kind of singing from him. It's an underwhelming track and its kinda generic, especially towards the end with the chord changes that sound like they're from a blockbuster superhero film.

It's too short, too formulaic, predictable. It doesn't feel like a Radiohead track to me. I don't know, everything sounds so seperate. Feels empty. Drums sound uninspired. The rythmic section is so boring. There's not really many parts in the song that stand out and make me want to listen to it again.

Their only publicly available post-TKOL material is this song, you sperg. Wait for the album to come out before you call it shit.
>>

>implying p4k is still remotely relevant
>>
>>64553056
But that's the thing, those whole 'removing themselves from the internet' thing has been solely about anticipation, there is no point if this song doesn't lead to something more interesting, because the anticipation and build up they made would've been pointless and they're much smarter than building up to nothing
>>
It's pretty good but we need the guitar to come roaring in. The album better not all be this light.

Gentle reminder that people were up in arms and confused, underwhelmed and running around weirded out when Kid A dropped

What the fuck is with /mu/ man
Whenever a /mu/core artist releases a new song/ep/album it gets way overblown and endlessly praised when its not even really that good and then a week later everyone forgets or realises how shit it is
Why do you guys always do this shit

Not evening memeing this sounds like Coldplay
