explain what's so great about the bends then. It's just good 90s pop rock, nothing more nothing less. What do you think makes it so special?
Kid A > OKC > IR > The Bends > Amnesiac > HTTT > PH > TKOL
the latter 2 are both bad albums but pablo at least has some enjoyable songs in You, Crepe, and Blow Out
HTTT has lots of good songs but is a mess
same for Amnesiac, it's a b-sides comp and it feels like it
you can re-order kid a and okc as you please, if you were born after '97 you're allowed to pretend that IR is the best, you can re-order amnesiac and HTTT as you please, and i guess if you're the sort of autistic warp records kid who thinks guitars are inherently evil you can pretend tkol is better than ph
other than that, stop trying to force meme opinions that will never be canonized

>>64548764
The king of limbs is the best radiohead album. Its the amalgamation of everything radiohead has ever attempted to do. if it was their last album it would be the only album of theirs of relevance in 50 years, like the white album (but what about revolver harps the beatles geek).
Its the album where the entire band is at their best, nothing else comes close.
>>64548762
If you can't see the difference in the attention to detail in the production and think they're comparable pop rock artists you can't be saved.
>>64548764
>same for Amnesiac, it's a b-sides comp
my least favourite meme tbqh :(
>>64548816
somehow you sound even more retarded than the guy you're replying to
>>64548729
Contrary to popular opinion, Thom's vocal control has continued to improve across most of the albums, because he actually started practising more.
He's become out of practise at yelling like he did when he had blonde hair.
I would say his best control years were around IR and increasing to HTTT, even though I don't rate the album that highly.
>>64548764
>i guess if you're the sort of autistic warp records kid who thinks guitars are inherently evil you can pretend tkol is better than ph
LMAO amazing
Let's discuss real problems like what will the light show be like for the next tour? Will Clive come tour with them? Is Jonny going to use the Kaoss pad on his Wednesday Tele or no? So many important questions
>>64548843
His singing on There There is amazing. Balances feral and beauty.
HTTT is probably my favourite era of his singing. I wish he would use his baritone voice more often as well
>>64548820
nigguh im not saying the bends is bad. it's a very good album, easily a 7 or 8. it's 90s british pop-rock done extremely well. it's an enjoyable album, the vocals are fantastic, the guitar melodies are memorable, the production is great.
But it's really not that interesting. It's just a well-done album. Solid. But it's not something you would want to keep coming back to.

I wanted to see Radiohead play while they're still relevant, will I ever get my wish?
Is there any radiohead track crazier than trans atlantic drawl?

They already did with Reckoner.

What I mean is, I might want to listen to it again for the 7th or 8th time, but I won't notice anything different about the album on my 7th or 8th listen that I didn't on my 3rd or 4th. There's comparitively little depth.. whereas with an album like Kid A, Amnesiac, IR, or TKOL, there is a lot more to absorb and appreciate over repeated listens.

There's plenty of good singing from around the HTTT era.
He sings particularly well on Go To Sleep, There There, Sail to The Moon and I Will. Low point IMO is probably Backdrifts.
I expect the problem with singing on backdrifts is they were already prepared to do it in a key that is uncomfortable (over his bridge). This is something he has done more frequently as his technique has improved.
You can tell because it's a bit whinier and he sings several notes in either falsetto or chest voice - as opposed to using a blend or just one or the other.
I think the stand out for vocal performance is We Suck Young Blood because he sings right across the range and you can't tell if he switches (I suspect he does, but it's flawless).
He's also really using vocal cord compression well.
Seems like there's nothing new :(
looks like we won't be seeing anything on predictable times until 6pm gmt
I know we've only got about 12 seconds of sound from that one video (and we're not even sure if it actually is a song), but it's sounding good so far.

Oh and I always forget the last two tracks, which I think are the best on HTTT - scatterbrain and a wolf at the door.
Both very good vocal performances.

Are you kidding? It's so English and weird and a bit psychedelic. Very cool.
Does it remind anyone of pic related?
