The references to modern movies almost seem like it's an ode to American, Japanese and Chinese popular culture. I feel like they've searched for something that can encompass the target audience of all cultures, rather than simply American or Asian cultures. I do not see it as post modern or show off either, but it still carries on what Twice has doing in the past with their MVs. For example, in Like Ooh-ahh, it was about zombies. I guess JYP decided to go wild with the music video for Cheer Up, it's just so many concepts jammed into one.

Twice may come off as a "so lol random" concept, but the references to pop culture were actually handled quite brilliantly. They've carefully captured the details of each movie they're referencing, and made sure to reproduce it to the best of their abilities. This is something that cannot be done solely by the director, this is something that the makeup and concept team all have to work together on. So, I gotta say I like what concepts Twice is trying; they're doing so much at once, but it still does not feel like a "lol so random" moment like Annoying Orange, for example.

I agree that Gfriend has a wider scope of concepts they can do than Twice. Twice has mostly stuck with cheerleader concepts, although it's unfair to compare with just three or four songs they've ever performed on music shows. Gfriend has promoted more than four songs on music shows, which means they did more than four concepts. While some may not agree with me, I think that the "pure schoolgirl" concepts actually have a wider variant of what they can achieve with the concept. There is only so much that a cheerleader can do, I mean try comparing an average high school student to a cheerleader.

Twice's music production quality is certainly one thing they have to improve on. The quality of music is one of the pitfalls that JYP Entertainment still struggles to get out of these days. Black Eyed Pilseung have written catchy, and successful songs for Twice. This, of course, does not mean the production quality of those songs were good, however. Their lyric writing abilities are actually some of the worst I've seen in kpop. The rap verses of members like Dahyun and Chaeyoung certainly could be improved, right now it just feels like a generic JYP rap verse. The success of Twice's songs seem to come from Black Eyed Pilseung's almost genius sense of being able to put together several popular genres into one. The changes in tempo are certainly awkward, and the chord progression is not necessarily smooth throughout the song. Twice is extremely successful with their songs, it almost reminds me of the peak era of SNSD. However, they need to work on improving their production quality.

As a Bachelor of Music in Music Theory, I can safely say that Yeri did not add anything constructive to Red Velvet's discography. Her vocals are extremely nasal and high pitched, which is grating to the listener, to say the least. Her singing abilities are limited to talk singing. In the song Wish Tree, her parts had to be accompanied by background vocals by the vocal line members like Wendy or Seulgi, to make her seem like her singing is not so bad. Yeri was a mistake.

These guys are winning in music right now. VIXX has put out one of the most consistent discographies in male kpop. They seem to put out better and better songs every time. Their vocals are amazing. Only SHINee is able to beat VIXX's discography quality, and that says a lot about them. Their newest song, "Dynamite", is a purcussion based upbeat song that is reminiscent of SHINee circa 2013. The chord progression is so beautiful, and I cannot believe they did some beat interchangement too. Chords were tearing up the place, and the quality of guitar and bass sessions were simply amazing. The song can be described with one word: "Alright!"

4minute's "Hate" can be described as a masterpiece that EDM Kpop has ever come across. This song's got that like trombone, and suzanophone sounds barking at you. It is composed of a chorus, which simply a drop produced by the Dubstep heavyweight Skrillex. This song is simply awesome. The rest of the song is produced by the Cube in-house producers, and you can tell that they did their best to work around the chorus to create a full-length song. You hear the Skrillex influence with the dub-wub sounds. 4minute went for the same two phase repeating pattern chorus that was also seen in "Crazy" formwise. It seems so underutilized because their singers are great.
