I can kinda see what you mean by the Thom thing, but to me it wasn't really disjointed other than the fact that there are straight rock tracks surrounded by strongly electronic tracks, but other than that I think it flows very well. If you want an example of disjointed and poor tracklist ordering look at Amnesiac.

I read an article on the creation of the album. Apparently Panda Bear was flown to Paris. He showed up to the studio and Daft Punk basically just told him to help them write a song on the spot. He said he worked all day, and the next day he flew back. Daft Punk took care of all the production. I wonder if that's how they wrote the other collaborations. Anyway I think Pharrell was the best fit for Daft Punk but Julian's song is my favorite.
