Their best album
more like... their... BREAST album.. HAHAHA GET IT?
>>64487271
I agree.
>>64487271
it doesnt have the upfront appeal of some of their other albums but it is really fucking solid
Yup, easily.
If dubs Fantano gives it a 10
The Powers That B is their best album. Niggas on the Moon is obviously incredible, which we can mostly all agree on, and Jenny Death is great too, though massively underrated by /mu/ because of it's rockier sound.
It sounds like Jenny Death 2.0 and I was hoping for Niggas on the Moon 2.0
>>64487934
It's more like The Money Store 2.0, Jenny Death was much more epic.
>>64487352
niggas on the moon is their best, yes. jenny death sucks though.
>>64488090
on the moon is best
this and exmilitary are next for me
>DG will never go back to NoTM style
jdims
On like my 7th listen. Im starting to agree
NOTM is my current favourite
>>64487271
Relatively disappointing, desu
Hothead and Spikes were the two best tracks, the rest are okay but don't stand out.
>>64488162
are you fucking kidding me?
Hothead was the worst track, just awful.
>>64488090
explain to me why jd sucks
>>64488181
Dude, they called their worst track by what it was
>trash
So... I haven't been on /mu/ for quite a while..
Is it actually leaked?
>>64488455
yes
I disagree
Uh, no. I can't say their best album is one that hardly uses Zach and instead throws in shitty, lazy synthetic trap drums whenever it can. YOU HAVE A GOOD FUCKING DRUMMER
>>64488181
Hot Head was amazing
BLINK AND YOURE OVER
>>64488576
They do use Zach, he plays everything on v-drums, and yes, some rhythms are insane, he's a fucking madman
>>64488576
Zach can play synth as well I'm pretty sure
>>64488576
>he doesnt know that it's zach on v-drums
I'm LMAOing at your life.
agreed
>>64488110
this
I feel like this one is somewhere in the bottom for me.
I've been depressed as fuck lately though, so maybe that's why I feel like I didn't get much out of this one.
>make an album of nothing of nothing but noise and glitch bangers
sounds like best album
This is tied to be their 2nd best.
NOTM > GP = BP > NLDW > EXM > TMS > JD
>>64487343
I swear if he gives it anything less than a strong 8 man will be pissed
>>64487981
can we just go through saying it's all of their projects 2.0 because to me it sounds NLDW 2.0 or GP2.0
>>64487271
it's very shallow
>>64488113
you mean GP style
>>64488181
no it's not. it's pretty good actually. listen to it a bit more
also here's a thing to consider: try listening to it again but differently - what i mean is, if you listened on speakers, try headphones. personally it sounded better on my headphones
>>64490767
fuck you
BP = JD = NOTM > NLDW = MS > TMS = EXM = GP > DG
>>64488971
>LMAOing at your life
this is one of the best memes. thank you
>>64490821
Seems like we agree on most things, friend.
I just didn't like JD compared to the others. It's still a 7-8/10
>>64490821
>hates GP
GP=NOTM=BP>JD>EXM>TMS=NLDW
>>64488090
>he doesn't like Jenny Death
The Powers that Be, Centuries of a Damn and On GP were one of their greatest tracks
>>64490865
>>64490821
>>64490767
nigga I keep telling you
BP = JD = NOTM = GP = NLDW = TMS = EXM = DG
feels like a wheel
>>64490885
nice. to be honest it's really hard to rank them they're all great
>>64490885
I like the new Kanye more than the old Kanye here, senpai.
>>64490767
Am I the only one Turned Off from NOTM's annoying Bjork vocal loops? Especially at the end of Billy Not Really and Have a Sad Cum BB
>>64490912
i think they're great and without them it'd be shit
>>64490783
> it's all of their projects 2.0
so..... Death Grips 2.0?
Sounds like NLDW mixed with Jenny
>>64490923
oh my god bitch
so is this album about the futility of the internet right?
>>64490986
pretty much yeah
this album is quite a grower, just like NOTM was. i cannot stop listening to it and i seem to like it more and more every listen
>>64491044
>>64490986
how do u know
>>64491212
by listening to it?
>>64491249
dont be an ass, he's asking for evidence that supports why you believe that BP has that theme
>>64490939
>not mentioning The Money Store
It was more Money Store than anything
Listen to Eh and Trash.
Pure Money Shop
>>64491263
I'm not being an ass. The lyrics are on their homepage right as you enter for everyone to observe. My interpretation of the album is my personal experience from it and I'm well aware that it doesn't fit everyones image of the album. Nor should it even.
>>64487287
yeah
the title track is some punk rock shit man. i fucks with it
Who is the person on the cover? Same from Fashion Week?
>>64491394
Liz Liles
Andy's ex I think
Or was it Stefan's..
Anyway, she did the vocals in Giving Bad People Good Ideas
>>64490921
>without them it'd be shit
no, because the rhythmic content is insanely detailed and intricate. it would work with a lot of things if they replaced them
>>64491423
how come they keep their exes around? sounds weird
>>64491212
look at the full design, and look at the website design on third worlds.
it looks like a blogging site or something, they even have it in like a times new roman "no proper formatting" style
anyways
>eh
>8080808
>trash
all of these seem to be mocking current trendy culture, eh seems to be mocking rapper status, 8080808 mocks artists constantly being told they need to write in whatever style is current to sell albums, trash seems to be mocking all of the useless shit we upload everyday.
>warping
this seems to be about how images can be warped through the internet, and it changes their entire existence.
>bottomless pit
the internet, a bottomless pit of information
still figuring out the other songs
>>64491469
just because you don't want to be together romantically doesn't mean you can't still be friends and partners
>>64491477
oh right, also
>hothead
I think this song is literally about angry writers on the internet. like people who write really hate filled comments
>giving good ideas to bad people
I think this is talking about the fast rate of communication now, in other words the internet, where as if the internet didn't exist, some bad people probably would've never connected and had such good ideas to them
>>64491499
>>64491477
oh also
alot of their lyrics on this ablum are about pointlessness and entropy and being useless, and uselessness and other stuff like that
Worth actually listening to 128? Or should I just wait for the official release?
>>64491469
>>64491483
She also makes music herself so they can at least help each other.
>>64491394
Liz
>>64491423
Liz was Andy's ex, see pic related (dey fugged)
Mexican Girl was Stefan's ex, and people often incorrectly say that Liz = Mexican Girl
>>64491528
Yeah, I can listen to Death Grips 100 times over, still excited for the high quality release.
>>64491541
Ah yeah, thanks.
>>64491528
You've convinced me. Don't know why tf I was trying to hold out anyway
>>64491483
yes but it's not only
>don't want to be together romantically
it's also that they used to be
>>64491477
I think Eh is just Ride (Or the trio in general) simply speaking out their mind
and if the listener decides to put himself in Rides position, the track becomes pretty funny and empowering, like a more self-aware, more mocking, more cynical and more poisonous version of something like Beware
>>64491513
Some tracks like Eh, Hothead and Bottomless Pit are also very dominant and seem lyrically more in line with Death Grips 1.0, in the sense that they make the listener feel like a powerful figure/force. Although I guess it's a matter of perspective.
>>64491558
From Hacker
>>64491423
Fashion Week's girl was the chick who did The Money Store's cover.
>>64491558
Those teeth are either cute as fuck or scary as hell, I can't decide.
>>64488110
>on the moon
What album are you talking about, exactly?

I think they're pretty hot to be honest.

eh is a song about apathy
It was great. I must admit that besides the track Hothead being on it, this could be their most accessible album to people besides EXM.
>>64491469
you can't really break up with fwbs
>>64488469
nice
How did the album leak? was it the soundcloud thing?
>>64488090

idk why andy uploaded his shit to SC early even if the tracks were private, I coulda told him that it's just the fuckin "private" setting on soundcloud, it really isn't that hard to get around
Anyone got a link?
>>64495452
It's on YouTube. If you wade through the landfill of stupid shit you'll find the entire album minus 80808.

>GP above anything
You're the worst kind of person. That album was their worst album by far.
TMS > JD = NLDW = EXM >> NOTM >> GP
>>64495780
That title goes to On GP
Quick lads, list some of your favorite moments on the album or they'll never make music again.
>the explosion of guitars on GBPGI
>that weird-ass melody on Ring a Bell
>when that fucking hook comes in on Spikes
>Bubbles buried in this jungle, bubbles buried in this jungle, BUBBLES BURIED IN THIS JUNGLE
>THREE BEDROOM'S IN A GOOD NEIGHBOURHOOD, ON FIRE LIKE A MARGARITA MADE OUT OF WOOD
Also his flow on Bubbles is so fucking cool. It reminds me of Beastie Boys for some reason.
>>64495789
Dude same. That's probably my favorite hook on the album after the one on Spikes. Shit's infectious.
>>64490865

>I KEEP GIVING BAD PEOPLE GOOD IDEAS

Literally some of the best hooks in any death grips album.
>>64495893
>you said this thing that you never said haha you're retarded
how's that mental illness treating you?
>>64495893
it's not difficult to get into, it just has too many forgettable tracks.
>>64495727
Maybe cause you are a faggot
>>64495941
>it just has too many forgettable tracks
well then how the fuck does that make it good?
BP >>>>> The res
>>64495970
what the fuck are you even saying m8
>>64495932
You're fucking stupid. If I obviously like their other stuff a lot you implied that it's more difficult to "into" GP because I can "into" their other material but not GP apparently. That's what you implied.
>>64496005
i use 'into' more like 'like' than 'you lack the mental ability to understand the songs.
what i'm saying that GP is one of their catchiest albums.
>>64495941
it has 1 or 2 forgettable tracks maximum.
she succs
>>64496065
succ
>>64496059
>i use 'into' more like 'like' than 'you lack the mental ability to understand the songs.
Lmao then you were just calling me stupid.

>>64495855
>>the explosion of guitars on GBPGI
>>that weird-ass melody on Ring a Bell
>>Bubbles buried in this jungle, bubbles buried in this jungle, BUBBLES BURIED IN THIS JUNGLE
Yeah on these, especially the GBPGI, it may be the highlight on the entire album for me. A few others
>I'm cloaked trash power fucking polygraphs
That synth is so fucking sick and Ride's flow on that bar kills me.
>synth on Eh
Hearing that was probably the biggest surprise on the album, I was not expecting anything like that at all and I love it.
>that beat breakdown on Bubbles Buried
Reminds me a lot of sounds they experimented with on FW and Interview, but executed way better, it sounds fucking amazing when that entire beat just falls apart and tries to build itself up again until the guitar comes back in.
>CLEFT PALATE CREATOR MORGUE HEAD FORSAKER PHALLUS CLOUD CROWN ME VAPOR
Hot Head took a long fucking time to really grow on me, but now I fucking cannot get enough of this verse, and I think this is probably the sickest lyric on the entire album. This should have been the opener, as it is the only track that uses the 2.0 sound, and even that sound is phased out on the track itself after the intro and replaced with live instrumentation
>aye doe bite that aye doe aye doe aye doe bite that
>>64496077
Ahhh longboi
>>64496104
>This should have been the opener, as it is the only track that uses the 2.0 sound
But Giving Bad People Good Ideas wouldn't be nearly as impactful if it weren't the opener. It catches you completely off guard. I think it would've been better if Hot Head weren't on the album at all and they wrote a new song for track 2.
>>64496095
l2 read and then come talk to me, fag
FUCK WEAK
>>64496104
Dude same, I didn't like Hot Head at all until recently. The part just before the one you mentioned is so fucking sick, when he just starts going off his head.

disjointed Houdini baby

Fuck me, 8080808 is a reimagined version of an old Mxlplx song Stefan wrote.

That beat and the synth are extremely similar.
>>64496357
Fucking hell it's weird to see him with hair.
Found it a bit boring desu
Still good though, didnt grab me like Jenny death at all
Bubbles buried and BB poison are my faves
>>64496357
damn...
>>64496412
FUCK WEAK
>>64496416
Right? There's no way it isn't intentional, the synth and beat are just too similar.
The track bottomless pit is probably the most punk rock that death grips has gotten to be. That shit is hard as fuck.
>>64496547
Did you not listen to Break Mirrors? It's practically their take on Rise Above.
>>64496560
True. They're both up there in giving that punk sound.
>>64496547
>>64496605
I get more of a shoegaze vibe from Bottomless Pit really.
>>64496511
yeah i think we found them out
Anthony better give bp a 10
>>64496547
For some reason, despite the dark and violent lyrics, that track gives me such an uplifting feeling. It feels like Ride is having fun.

>>64497967
yeah so is your wife's son.
Parts of the album feel like someone desperately trying their best to sound like Death Grips. Especially the hooks. Don't get me wrong, they're TMS-levels catchy as fuck, but most of them really do sound like a shitty imitation; particularly Warping and Houdini.
That factor alone is what removes this from being my first or even second favorite album of theirs. Even back when Hot Head dropped I thought to myself "damn this sounds like a fucking imitation".
Maybe they just reached that point in their career, idk.
>>64498036
how can a band sound like an imitation of themselves?
>>64495855

>>64498135
why are you acting like this is the first time in history an artist has been described as such?
Plus when you have shit like Yeezus and all of the 16 year old redditors from r/deathgrips that try to emulate their style, it's not that hard.
DG were innovators; GP and NOTM were both shit you'd never expect from them. Now on BP you have a bunch of songs that are sonically similar to shit on their other releases.
>>64498219
I don't agree with you
>>64487271
Exactly how I feel. Everyone seems to be just at their prime and no member takes over the other. Ex: GP had way too much Flatlander
>>64487271
would this be the album I show my wife's son if I'm trying to get him into death grips?
>>64487271
By a long shot. It's uncomfortable in a more intimate way, which is amazing. Eh and Warping are ace tracks.
>>64497606
if you text someone "eh" you're saying "next" as in I don't give a fuck
>>64487934
Niggas on the Moon is all over this thing.
I think this is the best culmination of NOTM and Government Plates.

I like the album, don't get me wrong, but it seems like they're using more and more presets and they've lost that Death Grips sound. On TMS, Exmilitary and NLDW they sampled some really interesting stuff and had a really unique sound. Same with NOTM. But this, I don't know. I recognize 2 or 3 presets which is kinda strange.
